Some subscribers seeing admin-level parts of WordPress Toolbar in forums post-1.6

    Since upgrading to Buddypress 1.6 some of my site’s users who are at subscriber level are seeing parts of the WordPress Toolbar which they should not be able to.

    This only affects some subscribers. I have not been able to replicate the problem myself but I have seen screengrabs.

    This only happens when they are browsing in the Forums. It does not happen when they go into the Group menu. Logging out and logging in does not appear to make a difference, nor does me clearing the cache (I use W3 Total Cache).

    They are able to see if there are comments awaiting moderation, however they are not able to follow the link to them as they do not have sufficiently high permissions. They can also see the ‘+ New’ menu. And they can see another menu placed there by a plugin which should not be visible to them.

    As I am not able to replicate this at the moment I’m at a loss to understand what’s wrong and wonder if it might be a bug?

    I should add, not all the menu options which could appear do. For example, when logged on as admin I can see the plugin menu notifying me of one plugin to update, but this does not appear to the subscribers who are being shown the menu options.

    Group Forums or bbPress sitewide forums? What theme are you using? Also, are you using any membership plugin?

    @mercime Thanks for the reply, answers are as follows:

    * Group Forums

    * Custom-built child theme based on Buddypress default theme (as I can’t replicate the problem myself I’ve been unable to test whether the fault persists when I switch themes)

    * The only membership plugin I’m using is User Role Editor. I’ve used this to create a new Subscriber role I’ve called ‘Super Subscriber’ which has one extra function. However both ordinary Subscribers and Super Subscribers have reported being able to see these extra icons.

    If you’ve been unable to recreate the problem yourself, it makes it very difficult for us to recreate it. If you figure out how to recreate it, let us know.

    @djpaul I appreciate that. It is immensely frustrating not to be able to recreate it.
