Something in BuddyPress like Fan Pages?

I’m wondering if there is some way to create something like Fan Pages, as opposed to BuddyPress Groups… something with some aspects of a user profile, but more of a one way relationship between fan page admins as opposed to how a group is a venue for members to interact.
I just stumbled across something that might be the ticket… but it’s over a year old:

Is there anything that could accomplish a similar thing, but is more up to date?
