spam group registrations

after I banned many domain names I finally got control over spam user registration, but now I see a new problem.
I see new group registrations without a user name.
My activity feed shows ” joined the group xxxx’ without user name.
Any one facing similar problem ? any thoughts on how to fix it ?
I am using WPMU 2.9.2 and BP 1.2.1
