Static “frontpage”/disclaimer

Hi.
Could anyone give me some advice on where to find out how I can set up as new “first page” before people arrive at the buddypress/buddy theme forntpage wich contains member info.
Guess I would have to edit the index.php. Would it be as simple as renaming the current index.php ti index2.php and add all the html and a link to index2.php ?
I need this to make a total static frontpage with a disclaimer before entering the buddypress installation.
Anyone?
