Steps for creating a new subnav menu item?

  • Greetings –

I’m trying to flatten my site navigation a bit by merging the directory pages (Groups Directory and Members Directory) into the single-item profile framework. (I hope I said that right.) For example, let’s say I’m in the member profile area where top nav = Activity | Profile | Messages | Friends | etc. When I click on the Groups top nav, by default I have two subnav items – Memberships and Invitations. What I want to do is create a new subnav item called “Find Groups” and when I select that item it would load the “Groups Directory” into the area beneath the subnav menu. Effectively the page would behave like the Invitations call. For the short term I’ve created a hack with a Find Groups link using an href that just calls the default groups.php page. However, when I do that I obviously lose the profile nav and subnav because I’m not longer in that area. I’m just having a hard time figuring out how to properly create a “Find Groups” object so that it recognized by functions like bp_get_options_nav(), etc.

I want to do this same thing with a Find Friends button as well.

Any help with this is greatly appreciate.
