subfolder cannot create for avatar upload

hello everyone! i read the forum about “The uploaded file could not be moved to the upload folder” bug. folder permissions etc. i couldnt find a solution about that.
i found what the problem is! the problem is a subfolder for user id cannot be created.
when someone tries to signup and upload avatar, they get the same error
“The uploaded file could not be moved to the upload folder.”
it’s because the system cannot create files/avatars/$user_id folder. i dont know how to solve that problem. when i create a subfolder manually for the new user, it works well. you can upload avatar. but i cannot create folder for thousands of users. so buddypress needs a solution for that.
my all folder permissions are set to 777.
wp version is 2.7.1 and i’m using the latest trunk for bp.
i’m trying to fix that and couldnt do it since 2 weeks.
