Tachyon Gantry Theme and Finding Buddypress 1.5.7 or earlier

  • Hello, I have had a very difficult time adding buddypress functionality to a development site hosted at “http://wptest.smbsuite.com/wptest”

The installation went wrong and I have subsequently spent hours trying to delete buddypress such that it will run the installation wizard again rather than trying to repair the install.

Also, 1.6.1 is not compatible with my theme. I need 1.5.7 and that seems to no longer exist anywhere on the internet. It would be most helpful if the install could be done from within wordpress so I don’t need to bother the admins with FTP access, but I’LL SETTLE FOR ANYTHING THAT WORKS!

Finally, at the install I had 3 options: 1. Use buddypress out of the box, 2. Use theme management to manually configure, 3. Do nothing. I chose buddypress out of the box because I thought that’s what buddypress support meant. For this next try, what’s the appropriate selection for a site that uses the Gantry Buddypress Plugin to theme Buddypress? I can’t find anything that explains this clearly.

  • All tagged versions in the SVN repository still exist and can always be downloaded.
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags – not sure where the zip files are.
Not sure though why there would be a difference between 1.5.7 and 1.6 you may want to pass that by the theme authors.

You need to use / choose your theme not select BP out of the box

If you have already run the install using the “buddypress out of the box” option, and need to get back to where you have options to install different theme support, just switch your theme temporarily to a theme that lacks buddypress support. It will then give you a message with the options to get buddypress themes (and clicking on that link in the message will take you to a plugin download page with the buddypress theme pack and other specific theme plugins you should install) OR the option to have buddypress help you modify your own theme, which will be a 3-step process in which buddypress will copy theme folders over to your theme folder, and then will give you instructions on how to modify the buddypress pages to match your theme.
