The docs seem to have changed (yesterday) for creating a custom component … ?

    Hi,

This week, I started learning how to make a custom component, using the developer docs, following this document:

    http://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/creating-a-custom-buddypress-component/

The first thing I noticed today was that the bookmark I had for these docs no longer worked. I searched and found the updated link I have pasted above.

The link I had before, for the main document page for custom components, had 4-5 links in the top right side of the content area.

In the current link, there are 2 links. The ones that got removed were about configuring the database and the uri stuff.

Were they removed temporarily, or were they removed on purpose because those things a developer can glean themselves from the skeleton example component and you don’t want to clutter the docs?

I’m just curious … since I’m learning this, I’d like to keep up with any changes that have recently come down stream. The only one that I saw mentioned was that there is now a skeleton version1.1.

The document links changing was unexpected though.

Any thoughts would be very appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Gene

  • They are out of date and need to be updated, so they won’t really help. The skeleton component is by far your best bet to learn what’s going on. The comments in there should be helpful.
