I just upgraded from WPMU 2.9.2 to WPMU 3.0 “automatically” through the admin page and got this message:

I did the first part, the second part I’ll do shortly, but what does the third direction mean?
“The wp-content/blogs.php file is deprecated. Please remove it and update your server rewrite rules to use wp-includes/ms-files.php instead.”
Should I delete that file? If so, how do I “update my server rewrite rules”? I don’t understand this part.

Please help. Thank you!

just delete blogs.php file from wp-content folder in your server, then you can run yoursite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php script or dashboard > upgrade

And you have to update your rewrite rules like the message says. Just look in htaccess for the /wp-content/blogs.php text and change it to wp-includes/ms-files.php.

this control serving the uploads so you kinda need to do ti.

Thanks! I just had to delete that file and do an upgrade via the dashboard. Definitely easy. Hope others read this and don’t get worried by the message. Love the new 3.0 look!

I just updated .htaccess file to include wp-includes/ms-files.php and deleted wp-content/blogs.php
When viewing my site I had lost all my images on the site at:
http://markandian.com/businesshub/community/

Luckily I’d made a backup and restored the file and the changes to .htaccess and everything came back again.

Does anyone have any idea what went wrong?
