Time Ago on Site Wide Activity Widget

    I am having troubles setting the ‘x hours x minutes’ ago on the Site Wide Activity Widget on my new BP install.

    My server time is set correctly and displays my current time to me when I view it in webmin. 3:08 pm, I’m -7.

    I set -7 in the main blog and the one sub-blog I have, and in the General settings it shows the correct time to me, which is 3:08 pm.

    When I insert a the_time() function in the single.php to view the time the post was posted, it is correct.

    However, on the Site Wide Activity Widget, it’s giving 9 hours ago as the time the post was posted. :( This is incorrect, as I just posted the post seconds ago. Any ideas what I have to do to get this to change?

    edit: i’ve a plus 6 hours shift. Time zone on server is ok (verified with date command) i’m using mu 2.8.6 and bp 1.1.3

    I had the same issue until it dawned on me to verify the settings for timezones in Settings->General. I ended up using a UTC manual offset and it corrected the problem (instead of choosing a city)

    A UTC Manual Offset? I’m just using the -7 that is listed on the drop-down menu. I actually don’t see any cities listed, I only see the UTC offset.

    Anyway, the UTC -7 is what I have set and it’s not working right.

    Cynthiablue, which version of WP are you using? Does this problem happen with new activity streams also? Which version of BP are you using?

    I’m using the most recent….

    WPMU 2.8.6

    BP 1.1.3

    It’s a fairly new install, maybe a week old, week and a half-ish.

    I’m having the same issue. Blog posts, comments, etc. are correct but the offset is not being applied to the site-wide widget.
