Unknown users

    Hi all,

    I had a look through the users on my site this morning and there are at least 20 that do not have profiles and are not attached to ther main blog (I have ‘create blog’ disabled). They’re also all gmail addresses. Uninvited hacks? automated addresses? Has anyone any idea what’s going on?

    So how do I stop them? These users are uninvited (we haven’t told anyone yet – bar the proper users that are on there) the site is live but we’re getting this trash – would this be automated?

    Sod it, they’re spammers – had a look for profiles and looked at some more of the email addresses, they’re crap so they’re getting deleted. Sorry for wasting everyone’s time with this.

    Look for wpmu captcha plugins. Suggest deleting the existing users if you don’t want them.

    Reprocessor, also take a look at the WP Hashcash plugin — it can help block the spam signups.
