uploading avatar or cover photo hangs site! help!

    I’m using WordPress 4.6.1 and Buddypress 2.7.2 with theme Electa, version: 1.3.01 by Kaira.

    Whenever I try to upload a profile cover photo, or avatar, the progress bar gets to the end as if it uploaded, but then nothing happens, and my site hangs and stops responding for at least 1 or 2 minutes.

    Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    Do you have anything in your error logs?

    I checked and my error log was 16GB. lol I deleted it, and then re-produced the error, but no error log showed up afterward….

    I increased both User side and Admin back end memory limit to 256M and activated “internal cache”. I tried to upload an avatar again and this time got this:

    ——
    Service Temporarily Unavailable

    The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

    ——-

    It has to be Buddypress as I added an avatar just fine BEFORE I installed it and have never seen this error before…

    Maybe 256M is more than your server can handle? try something like 128M.

    It has to be Buddypress…

    Maybe, but it is working for me so it’s more likely related to your set up.

    I put it down to 128M. Still not working, so I disabled avatars. 🙁

    Fixed it!! Permissions issue! lol
