Use value and label in xprofile dropdown options

Hi,
It would be great if we could assign a value/label pair for each option in dropdown lists and all “Multi option” fields. Thus we could change labels whitout change stored values.

In my case I have a dropdown list of states, and my users select their state. I need to correct a spelling mistake, but if I change the option value, the users with this state assigned are losing their choice.

If we could achieve this, it would be much more flexible. Is there any way to do customize BP like this? Is possible to get this in future BP updates?
