User Date/Site Security

I’m using BuddyPress 1.6.4. My site is: http://www.vezera.com/test

To best protect my user’s data, I want to utilize the best security add-in’s possible. My two questions:

    1. Should I use BP plugin’s or Hostgator’s tools? Hostgator’s security tools consist of: Password Protect Directories, IP Deny Manager, HotLink Protection, GnuPG Keys.

    2. If you suggest that I use BP plugins, which ones would you suggest? My fear is that I don’t want to install multiple ones that override each other.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Have you identified any BP plugins that would give you extra security ?

Have you read any of the many docs re hardening WP installs ?
    Here’s a start point: https://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress

IP Deny Manager would be useful if you’ve identified IPs that are causing problems.

Thanks for the quick reply and link! I’ve actually poured over the BP security plugins, but again, if you or someone else on the forum had a good “security plugin package” to recommend, that may be better than just installing many that may interfere with each other. I did read through the WordPress link that you sent and that was helpful.

Here are the plugins I have activated so far: Timed auto logout, email address encoder, BP security check and password rules.

Right now I am not having problems because my site is not live yet. Thanks.
