Username Error

    I have had a few people try to register on my new site yesterday and get errors saying username is invalid. They told me their usernames and it was nothing weird. At the same time I had many others register without any issues.

    Has anyone experienced this before and what could have caused it? How do I figure out what the rules for creating usernames are and convey them to people trying to register?

    Exactly what error message are they getting?

    Are the errors coming from the WP fields – Username
    Or the BP field – Name

    What names are they trying to use?

    BP gives specific errors re usernames, such as ‘Username must be at least 4 characters’.

    WP has its own restrictions, I think allowed chars are [a-z] and [1-0].

    You should also provide the version of WP and BP used on your site.

    I think I figured it out. These users are not doing the captcha on login.
