    Hello all,

First of all, let me say, Im a total newby to all of this WordPress stuff and Im learning FAST!!! Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!! I hope I dont get beat up here…. : (

My question is this: Is there a way to put BuddyPress (or some type of social network) on my WordPress based website but NOT use it as a theme? What I mean is, I wan to use BuddyPress as a social network for my companies website but I want it to be a clickable link at the top of the website as a menu link. Clicking the link would ultimately take them to the “Example Company Online Community”. Almost as if it were taking them to Facebook.

After I installed the BuddyPress plugin in my WordPress, it became PART of my actual website as a theme. Thats not what we want. Is there a way to get a social network “page” within my website without BuddyPress changing my whole website?

    Again, Im a newby here….. be gentle….

    JT

It sounds like you would need create another folder in your root install of wordpress and title it something like “community”. Then create a bran-new WordPress install in the folder and then install BuddyPress. You’ll effectively have 2 WordPress installs. The one on your “main” site will just be what people look at. But the 2nd install in your community folder will be where people will create accounts, interact, i.e. basically everything else that BuddyPress does.
