Very wierd long forum url – how to change that?
-
Hi,
I have two problems (still trying to set up the site, so there might be more in the future – but right now I have two).1) The url to my forum is really wierd: http://www.dethuletrae.dk/forums/forum/forum-2/
I think I’ve understood some of it. The “forum-2” must be because I called the first forum I made for “forum” and it might have thought “hey there, that already exists, we can’t have that” and added the “2”.
So if I make another forum (or change the name/url of this one) it would look something like /forums/forum/newname.
But the two first ones annoys me. When you activate buddypress and assign pages, I created a new page named “forum” (with the same link, aka: http://www.dethuletrae.dk/forum/) and assigned that page to the forum option in the buddypress settings.
So where does the “/forums/” come from? And is the “/forum/” after it due to the page I created or does it come from somewhere else? Can I somehow delete the plural form, so the link isn’t so darn long and repetetive? And this leads me to problem two.
2) Due to my theory about the second “/forum/” being from the page I created, I’ve tried to change that – both in title and url – but nothing changes. New forums still have the /forums/forum/ part before the name of the newly created forum.
So, if the second “/forum/” is from the page I created to start with, then why won’t it update the link to the forum? Also, kind of a third point.
3) I saw someone in another post mentioning: define ( ‘BP_ENABLE_ROOT_PROFILES’, true ); in bp-custom.php to make a shorter link to userprofiles. Can you do that with the forum link as well? (That could be a quick fix I assume – if it’s possible.)Sincerely,
Erica
