What is the most appropriate way to get rid of the wp-login.php screen?

I do not want visitors to ever be taken to this screen. If their login fails I’d prefer that they would be redirected to the home page. Also I would like to add the forgot password link to the buddypress sidebar login. I appreciate your help! Cheers!
