where do i disable group notifications?

    When i create a new group/forum post i get this error:

    Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated; If you would like to pass it by reference, modify the declaration of apply_filters(). If you would like to enable call-time pass-by-reference, you can set allow_call_time_pass_reference to true in your INI file in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-notifications.php on line 33

    Since the domain i’m currently under has a very important site on it i don’t want to edit my php.ini so I’d like to modify the declaration of “apply_filters()” but what do i modify??? Help!

    the filter i need to edit is:

    $to = apply_filters( ‘groups_at_message_notification_to’, $to );
