[Resolved[ BP Template Pack – Where do I put sidebar-buddypress.php? Glow Theme

I’m having huge trouble getting the layout of my template right. I’d like to try adding custom header.php, sidebar.php and footer.php and the BuddyPress instructions say I just add them to the root of the theme folder. I’ve done that and they’re not being picked up. Am I missing something? I find the instructions for BuddyPress aren’t very clear. I’ve read the walk-throughs for different templates but I’m not using those templates so seem to be going round in circles. I hope someone can put me out of my misery 😀

@scoobydoobydoo you upload sidebar-buddypress.php to your theme’s folder in server as in wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder/

What theme are you using the BP Template pack on?

I just noticed a typo in the filename I had!!! The filename is now spelled correctly as ‘sidebar-buddypress.php’ and it is loading! Sorry about that…

Any idea why my sidebar is only starting after the last item in the content area? I’m using the latest template from ET, it’s called GLOW: http://bookofburlesque.com/members/

    Thanks for your help

@scoobydoobydoo It means that Step 3 of the compatibility process has not been completed. Initial scan of the theme does show you only need to create two or three files to complete the process. Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all, paste in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated pastebin URI here. Do the same for your theme’s page.php, index.php, sidebar.php and footer.php.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at these files for me, I really appreciate it 🙂

That is what I call amazing support!! Thank you SO much 🙂

btw the first line of code on the page you linked to (below) results in a double header/logo, so I removed that bit and now the site looks perfect:

Hmmm ok my code keeps getting stripped out of my reply even using the code tag button here.

I mean the first line for the header-buddypress file which GETs the header 😉

@scoobydoobydoo I saw what you meant. My bad, I have deleted that line from the code I linked to above.
Glad it worked out for you. Marking this thread as resolved then.

Hi, any idea of this same with a Templatic theme? (sorry if I’m not posting where it should be)

@naturalworldstm it most likely would not be the same. Please create a new topic of your own. Include info about which templatic theme and theme demo url to start off.
