Why can’t we…

I was thinking – there are many situations when a lot of people need a certain functionality but there is no plugin available or it is out-of-date. Maybe we can set some kind of mechanism or use kickstarter.com so that buddypress developers can collect requirements and everybody interested can spend $10-20 on each of it. This way we will fund additional functionalities we need and that we struggle without.

Kickstarter seems really awesome, but, you have to have an American bank account to set up a project. A lot of BuddyPress plugin authors, myself included, seem to be based outside America. I’ve not found any European alternatives.

What if we use Elance or something similar. It is all about the idea – I’m sure that a transaction platform is not a problem. It is more important how do we organise ourselves to request certain demands and find developers to build plugins.

UPDATE: For example I need to have a Buddypress Maps plugin working and need some plugin with extended fields for groups (it won’t be difficult to rewrite the Group Tags plugin).

There’s always Google Docs as a collaborative platform: http://www.google.com/google-d-s/intl/en/tour1.html
    As for payment… ?

We can have a group set up here – not a big deal, but I think admins should set some rules… it would be very useful, I am sure!
