Why is BuddyPress.org so slow?

For some reason buddypress.org is extremely slow and it takes me forever to find what I want. God forbid I click on something that doesn’t give me what I want, I won’t find out for at least 5-10 seconds. Why is this site so much slower than wordpress.org? It’s not the end of the world, but it’s a bit disappointing when I’m trying to find answers to my questions through the forums.

I don’t know but I have told the appropriate people and they are investigating.

I’ve already brought up this issue but I’m glad to hear another voice added to mine

the waterfall analysis shows the bottleneck occurring right at the start:

might be an issue with ngix or something else, the fact that the site is not optimized at all… take a look at those scores to the top right… doesn’t help either

a CDN would be nice, so would W3 caching plugin but there are also very very simple actions that can be taken in the .htaccess to improve performance

BTW…it seems much faster now Paul. On a side note, have you gotten closer to the release up the achievements update for the recent wp 3.5 changes? I remember seeing you mention that you were going to have make some updates and release theme ASAP about a couple of weeks ago…?

If you have questions on the achievements plugin, this is not the topic to do it in.

Closing this topic, since it’s long since fixed.
