It’s not part of BuddyPress core. Maybe it’s a theme or plugin.
@djpaul
Thanks for your reply.
I’m using WP 3.5.1 and BP 1.6.4 and a child theme of BP default with nothing in it but a style.css
I deactivated all plugins except buddypress and it still has that weird stuff at the end of the url so what could it possibly be?
it looks like a social tracking hashtag used by some social media plugins to help you track how your content was shared through email/IM/facebook/twitter/etc.
I have the same thing on a site that I operate and the plugin is ‘ShareThis’. If it’s not a plugin, maybe you installed a social sharing script via one of your files?
I hope that helps.
I had ShareThis social buttons in a function that hooked into bp_after_header in my bp-custom.php. The thing is even when I removed bp-custom.php from the plugins directory it still spits out those weird hashtags in my url. Is there a remedy for this?
I would contact ShareThis if you’ve removed all their code and still having the same issues.
@djpaul I tried to share my solution here but it strips out php code whether its enclosed with back ticks, code tags, or code tags and back ticks combined. Anyway this can be marked as resolved as I have found a fix. @vegaskev Thanks for your replies!
@bphelp You are completely welcome
