Why when the user registration on site using their own password,but there`s still get an random pass

guys,
i have a problem, everytime user do a registration in my site, they always get a mail with random password, so what`s the useful of password choice when they do a registration before….how i can remove the random password, so when user choice for they password, they can login using their own password (like on this site)..thanks so much before ^^
