widesite forum page wont show up

  • hello i just installed the latest buddypress on the latest wordpress.
when i have installed the widesite forum, the page for forums didnt exist.
in the bbpress setting there was conflict between forums base with the forums page, i have changed it to any names but still the forums page wont show up.
i also have tried it by going to the page manually http://mywebsite.com/forums but theres an error saying “The forums component has not been set up yet.”
    how to fix this?
ps: its working fine with groups forums.

It’s important to know what you want to accomplish.

Do you want to install both group forums and sitewide forums or just one of the choices?

    Try reading this tutorial:
    https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/

If you have any questions after reading it, please post them.

i have read that tutorial, i even used it as a guide. i just want to install the sitewide forums.

Okay, try uninstalling group forums and delete the page associated with it. (This is usually the /forums/ page).

Next, re-run the sitewide forums install. What happens?

i dont have the group forums at the moment, the forum page will show up if i dont associate it with the installation forum. but its gone when i associate it. this is really confusing.

Did you try deleting the “Forums” page that the group forums installation created in the WP dashboard under “Pages”?

yeah i did. “The forums component has not been set up yet.” what does it mean?

just want to add one thing. when i look into the forum tab on buddypress setting. the “install sitewide forum” still exists. Should it be “uninstall sitewide forum” or something?

Since you only want to install sitewide forums, make sure that there’s no bb-config.php where you installed WP, i.e. same level as your wp-config.php. If you find that there’s a bb-config.php, delete it.

Check in wp-admin menu Plugins > Installed Plugins and see if bbPress is listed and activated there. If you ran “install sitewide forums” and were able to download bbPress via pop-up screen in backend and activate it, then yes, the link in BuddyPress > Forums – Sitewide Forums should be “Uninstall Sitewide Forums”. If you see “install site wide forums” instead, then you were not able to install bbPress in the first place.
