WordPress Search Results not displaying when Buddypress Site Activity is frontpage

I made the Buddypress Site Activity the front page of my custom themed site. When you search via the WordPress search bar which should show related posts, the search bar simply refreshes the front page of the Site Activity. It does not display any related results. However when I make the front page the WordPress blog index then I can see the related search results.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

If your trying to search activity, I use this (https://github.com/sbrajesh/bp-searchable-activity) which adds an “activity” option in the buddypress dropdown search.

I am not trying to search through the activity. I want the search field to search through the main site’s blog posts. However again the search simply refreshes the main page which I have set to the Site Wide Activity page. The search no longer displays results.

Any updates? I’d like to allow people to search through the default WordPress search widget. However no results appear if the Buddypress Sitewide Activity page is the index of the site.
