You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

When I install buddypress using the built-in WordPress plugin installer. I click Activate. The plugin then becomes activated and nothing else happens. Then I click on Settings and I get the error

‘You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.’

The URL link for my site ends like this:

    /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bp-components

Only I can’t locate a bp-components page anywhere so I’m guessing something is not getting installed or I just don’t know what folder or file(s) need to have the permissions changed?

    Any help much appreciated.

sorry for the trouble, buddypress is working fine.
ronsmithmd when you hover on dashboard tab,you can see buddypress tab…click it…then press save and next until it moves to finish tab.

I had the same problem. Do not click on any of the settings tabs or any of the links in the component tab. Once you choose which components you want, choose save settings. That will take you to the next page. Choose your options on each page until you complete the setup. Once that is complete you will be able to click on and view your settings.
