Glad it’s still working.
Looking at the original Trac ticket there is now a bp_core_get_directory_page_id() method for this which takes the $component as a param or defaults to bp_current_component().
Just wanted to follow-up for others looking to this as a solution… there’s now an official method which is probably more appropriate.

After upgrade wordpress 5.0 beta 5-43933 everything ok with Buddypress 3.2.0 but after cliking on user message tab. The meassage inbox cant display.
If anybody say any solve for this!!

Hi Shane,
Thanks a million for taking the time to respond. I deactivated the cache plugin but that didn’t seem to fix it. I am not sure how to determine which plugin is associated with the creation of last online so will find a developer online to help me (I’m not technical at all ;-)).

Hi Davis thank you very much. I went there and it seems that those are applied at site level only? The issue appears to be that different member sections have different time stamps when users were last online. Perhaps I am missing something there?
