I have internationalised the text strings. You can localise via the buddypress-crowdmentions text domain?

I’ve just finished building Crowdmentions. Currently the @group and @mod commands are supported when used within a group context. I’ll be adding support for more commands going forward, such as @friends.

I’d be grateful for your feedback if you have time to test it out.

Actually if you check the box beside membership in dashboard/settings before activating bp it will create those pages automatically. However once you activate bp even once without the box beside membership checked then you will need create those pages manually. I’ve not encountered any issues locally.

My preferred setup is Chassis to provide local WordPress environment on vagrant; then adding BuddyPress however you prefer (from wp-admin or manually). Works great on OSX (although there are some general config changes with VirtualBox on El Capitan).

Are you sure he wasn’t using a tagging plugin? Alternatively he could have been referring to @-mentions.

For example, this @bahamamom66 is an @-mention which kind of “tags” you.

There is limited spam potential, but if groups have mods mods can ban / restrict membership. And the plugin would only be used by those who thought the benefits outweighed.

I agree a context-sensitive @group is a good idea. I don’t think anything wider reach than “All friends” or “all group members” is a great idea because of how noisy it would be on any decently-sized BP site

Pretty sure next set of templates will have members as a grid, yes. All of the popular third-party BuddyPress themes have done it like this, so we’d be foolish to not do the same.

Regardless of how you added the users, if you chose to not have emails sent, you need find a WordPress plugin that will do this for you (if any exist — resending emails is a bit niche).
