Very much a NUBE when it comes to Buddy press. I’m so confused I have no clue whatthis error means.

“BuddyPress is ready. You’ll need to activate a BuddyPress compatible theme to take advantage of all of the features. We’ve bundled a default theme, but you can always install some other compatible themes or upgrade your existing WordPress theme:

Does this mean my current theme http://www.swurvradio.com witch is a church wordpress theme from StudioPress.com (who currently doesn’t support this theme anymore, but I don’t think that has anything to do with the error) Do I need to find a totally different theme then what I currently have? It would be devastating changing our current theme for the simple fact it took me 6 months to learn.

You will need to activate the BP Template Pack plugin to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress.

Will this have any effect on the current theme I have or is this completely separate?

Actually just checked and the Template pack is installed…

BP Template Pack will transfer BP template files over to your active WP theme. Then you will need to impose HTML structure of WP theme onto BP template files.

StudioPress has a paid plugin to make their Genesis child theme buddypress compatible. you can do the work manually as mercime has suggested, or you can get the plugin. ask them over there. ;)
