BuddyPress dropdown menu is not working properly.

  • I have a WordPress website, and I downloaded BuddyPress 1.5.5 and went through the installation wizard.

However, when I hover over one of the links in the dropdown menu at the top of the page, i can see a little break in the dark menu – i can see the background through the menu at that thin, horizontal break.

When you try to move the mouse down (e.g. under my account, the bottom link is sign out), then as soon as the mouse hits that break, the menu quits as though you moved the mouse off the menu.

Now, I also noticed that this break is positioned right where the WordPress 2011 theme begins. So basically, the dropdown menu messes up when it meets the header of my website.

Furthermore, when I scroll down a bit and try using the dropdown menu (you can’t see the header at this point), then it works just fine.

But I can’t exactly tell visitors to scroll down a bit if you want to login….

So is there a fix for this? I’m using the buddypress 2011 theme as well.

    What browser are you using?

Which BuddyPress 2011 theme? theme URI? Does the same behavior apply when you change to bp-default theme?

I encountered the similar problem using WP 3.4.1 and BP 1.5.6 when trying to access MyAccount dropdown menu items in Safari 5.1.7 and Firefox 13.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.7.4. Seems the problem occurs when the menu drops down over the header area – as I too couldn’t scroll lower than Profile on the drop down. I did find that if I stretched my browser window wider in Firefox so that the menu was to the left of the header area completely (ie against the grey background) then the menu worked fine. Same true on Safari too. For info – I did the BP compatibility update using the BuddyPress Template Pack. My site is http://www.hncl.org.uk. I also have problem of all member activity/profile type links redirecting to the homepage – guess that’s another issue.

    Really appreciate help on this.
