Share music files on buddypress?

Hi, I’ve been building wordpress sites for about a year now so know a bit but not a lot! I’ve been approached by a client and asked if I can build him a music sharing site where local bands and djs can sign up, have their own profile page and upload and share their music. Is this something that buddypress can do? Would really appreciate some feedback from someone who knows a bit more than I do.

I’ve used BP Gallery, a premium plugin ($30) since early 2010.

There’s also the free BP Media plugin which you might want to check out. Per plugin info, beta version supports audio files, embedded videos, embedded images, etc. audio files, embedded videos, embedded images, and much, much more.

There’s also a great plugin for profile widgets:

Notice that when you get to the “widget logic” part in the FAQ, the only code you’ll need to use is `bp_is_user_profile()`
No need for the other part of the code written there.

You can check out this blog post. It tells you how to go about with this, but then you’ll have to know how to code. Another option is to avail their services.
