Replacing landing page in BP

  • @nysom

    Member

    I’m creating a community site (no!) Instead of landing on the BP ‘home’ page, I want to land on a custom page, and have that page’s menu entry to be the first, or, to be before the BP menu. such that:

    Home (new index.php) | Activity | Members | Groups | Forums | (Other Custom Pages)

    You choose a front page just like creating a static page in WordPress.

    I was wondering myself how to do this. But the instructions above do not apply to BuddyPress, since the “Front Page Displays” settings are all missing from the main BuddyPress site under Settings.

    @digitalhytop – BuddyPress is a WordPress plugin; front page handling is a WordPress thing.

    Modemlooper’s link is a good place to start.

    When you create a new page for your frontpage, you’ll probably want to create a page template for it:

    @modemlooper — That was embarrassingly simple. Thanks.

    @r-a-y — I’d already created a custom template.

    @digitalhytop — Do what modemlooper says. Click the link, follow the instructions. It works.

    Thanks for playing, everybody. Consider this issue SOLVED.

    Trying to ‘edit’ to add ‘Solved’ to post title — getting ‘Page Not Found’ error.
