I like it, A LOT.
Clean, neat and simple. Congratulations.
Apart from the plugins, maybe U could release the layout as a theme…
Looks good, my only thing right way that I dont like is the hover on the three boxes below header. It feels backwards. Normally what you hover changes not things around it. Also, I think the headers on the content areas are too “3D” feeling. Maybe it’s the dark shadow around them.
Interesting way to get to the registration page with just the username. I also like how you dealt with the only lowercase username issue. You might also check out this solution that r-a-y put together: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2207
Page looks pretty good, but as you said in your blog, I’m not sure it completely communicates your message of what the site can do for new users.
@gottowik – well done. Looks awesome. How did you get the re captcha to work on the registration page? Care to share?
@josemy – thanks for the positive feedback!! At the moment the theme files contain many individual sections which will not work on a normal wp installation. It will take some time to remove them and make the theme ready for a initial release. Just give us some time….
@Modemlooper To be honest….we had hard and long discussions about the hover navigation. As you can see we got several separated sections of the site where developers can get in touch and share knowledge. We want to make them all accessible from everywhere by just one click. If you have an idea how to solve this in a way it does not feel backwards…please let me know!
@techguy How would you describe bettercodes with a few words? What sounds promising…what is boring and not worth to be mentioned?
@Anton Thanks! If you guys like what we are doing we keep up the hard work…
Captcha is integrated in the template file and by just adding a small action to bp_signup_validate:
Template:
https://svn.bettercodes.org/bettercodes/trunk/bettercodes/bc-themes/bc-default/registration/register.php (line 186)
Action:
https://svn.bettercodes.org/bettercodes/trunk/bettercodes/bc-core/bc-core.php (line 558)
If you need more help just drop me a PM on bettercodes. ok?
I meant that when you hover the two other link areas dim but the place you hover doesn’t change. Seems backwards.
Maybe the hovered area needs something that changes too?
Thanks @gottowik – works 100%
One more thing…What country drop down are you using on your register page?
@Modemlooper Good idea. Maybe we can resize the hover and vary its position… Some icons could also do a good job here.
@Anton Some of the first bp releases came with an option to insert all countries in wp-admin by direct sql insertion. Someday it was removed because it was not implemented well…. I am not sure who thought it would be better to type in all these countries manually…

If you really need all of these countries, just write a short sql script and take this data: http://pokerexistence.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-xprofile/prebuilt-fields/?DD
Thanks @gottowik. I’ll give it a shot!
As far as the backwards hover issue, just do what everyone else does and steal the design idea from apple.

I like the site ,nice and clean. 5 star!
