Admin not receiving New User Registration emails

    Hi there,

As the admin on a BuddyPress site (http://www.scotiasurfer.com), I am not receiving not receiving New User Registration emails. In other words, I am not being alerted when someone signs up.

I am using WordPress 3.0.4 and BuddyPress 1.2.7. I do not have multi-site activated.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Reed

I’d double-check that the admin email is correct at yourdomain.com/wp-admin/options-general.php

Then, make sure that the emails aren’t being zapped by your SPAM filter.

Do you get regular BuddyPress notifications (friend requests, private messages, etc.) to the admin email?

Is your email hosted on the same server as your site? You might try switching the admin email to gmail or whatever to see if the emails go to that other account. Because if your email account is the same as your website domain but you host your email elsewhere (ex. Rackspace, Google Apps), your server might be trying to send the message locally.

Hi David, thanks for the suggestions.

I double checked that my admin email was correct on the Settings page. The email account is hosted on the same server as the website (e.g. webmaster@scotiasurfer.com).

I am receiving friend requests, etc., so the email is working. I’m just not getting the New User Registration notifications.

I also tried to change the admin email to a gmail account. Still no luck getting the New User Registration notifications.

The next thing I’d do is deactivate BuddyPress to see if you’re still not getting new user notifications. If you can’t do this on your live site maybe create a test install in a subdirectory. This would help isolate whether it’s a BP or WP thing. You might want to check out the WordPress forums, too – https://wordpress.org/search/new+user+notification?forums=1

Did you ever get these new user notifications? Or is it something that just started happening recently? Maybe it’s a plugin or customization issue specific to your setup.

I am having this same issue. I get the email fine if the new user is created on the WordPress side, but if it is done through BuddyPress I do not get a notification. Any other ideas on this?

Please read the second point in the “Registration” section:

In case anyone else comes here with this problem, installing the Mail From plugin DID work for me. I now get new user emails. So thanks. :)

I’m glad the Mail From plugin worked for you. But it didn’t work for me. Any ideas? i’ve checked everything mentioned above. I get admin emails, no problem but new regsitrations do not get their confirmation email so their user account never goes active and I never see them on the Admin side.
