    @djpaul:

    Cfr. https://buddypress.org/support/topic/display-age-on-profile-page/page/2/#post-158035:

    Actually, whoever is logged in is the default age, and when logged out, everyone is age 0 in the member directory. When logged out each user’s profile page shows their proper age.

    and:

    https://buddypress.org/support/topic/age-for-each-user-instead-of-age-for-logged-in-user/:

    what have I to change for getting displayed the indiviual age of each member?

    @1a-spielwiese

    @jadams1974:

    “your top bar”

    Do you mean the Menu-Tabs on the BuddyPress-pages?

    It’s for the first line (background-color: Teal)

    #buddypress div.item-list-tabs {
        background: #008080
    }

    and for the second line (background-color: Gainsboro)

    #buddypress div.item-list-tabs#subnav ul li {
    	background: #DCDCDC
    }

    And the (bold, 97.5%-seize) DarkMangenta-font-color is produced for all my links with:

    a {
        color: #8b008b;
        font-size: 97.5%;
        font-weight: bold;
    }

    The basic issue is resolved.

    Regarding the two persting problems I have started more specific topics:

    https://buddypress.org/support/topic/age-for-each-user-instead-of-age-for-logged-in-user/

    and

    https://buddypress.org/support/topic/addressing-profile-fields-with-complex-names/

    Therefore, for my point of view, this topic could be closed.

    How can I delete the text, which is striked within the screeshots:

    (More or less) resolved; the solution you can find there:

    http://dontdream.it/support/topic/reshaping-the-search-result-pages/#post-3042 (regarding ‘löschen’)

    http://dontdream.it/support/topic/reshaping-the-search-result-pages/#post-3043 (regarding member-search)

    I abstained from deleting ‘All member’ + number; instead I re-designed it:

    http://dontdream.it/support/topic/reshaping-the-search-result-pages/#post-3044 (3rd section)

    The result is:

    @danbp / https://buddypress.org/support/topic/which-files-create-the-page-titles-site-wide-activity-members-and-groups/#post-203971:

    Nobody told you to put bp-loader in the child theme !

    My question was:

    Where I would have to place my bp-activity-loader.php-Copy?

    And your answer was:

    If you want to modify template files, you do that with a child-theme and by respecting the same directory structure

    So, if your answer was not an answer on my question – what would be then the answer on my question?

    —–

    However:

    Changing words with the translation file is best practice, so you haven’t to modify anything in a core file.

    Of course, this would work; but I would not call this a ‘best practice’ – because ‘Neuigkeiten aus dem 1a-Spielwiese-Netzwerk’ is clearly not an a translation of ‘activity’.

    And anyway: The page title ‘Members’ and ‘Groups’ are correctly translate within the Decker-translation, which I use:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Members-Page-Title_translated.jpg
    and
    http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Groups-Page-Title_translated.jpg

    Nevertheless I got displayed in the Frontend ‘Members’ (not: ‘Mitglieder’) and ‘Groups’ (not: ‘Gruppen’), before I changed the core files today:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Page-Titles.jpg

    And other users have the same problem:

    Ich möchte die Seite gerne komplett in deutsch gestalten, aber egal welche “.mo” Dateien ich ins buddypress/plugin/language Verzeichnis lade, alles ist auf deutsch, nur nicht die Überschriften “Sitewide Activity” “Members” etc.

    ‘by respecting the same directory structure as in bp-legacy/buddypress/…/file_name.php:’

    But the EXAMPLE-loader.php-files are not inside the bp-legacy-folder!

    The structure is:

    • on the one hand, e.g.: buddypress/bp-actitvity/bp-activity-loader.php
    • and on the other hand: buddypress/bp-legacy/buddypress/bp-activity – but there isn’t any bp-activity-loader.php

    Within my child-theme-folder the equivalent for buddypress/bp-legacy/buddypress/bp-activity is simply buddypress/bp-activity (!) – or, as you explained there, regarding the members-loop.php:

    wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/members-loop.php

    To modify this file, you make a copy of it and put it into your child-theme
    /your-child-theme/buddypress/members/members-loop.php

    Therefore, placing the my bp-activity-loader.php inside my reddle-child/buddypress/bp-activity-folder would not ‘respecting the same directory structure’, rather changing it!

    @1a-spielwiese

    ‘Members’ I found in the buddypress/bp-members/bp-members-loader.php

    The relevant line there is:

    'directory_title' => _x( 'members', 'component directory title', 'buddypress' ),

    With ' ' (instead of ‘members’) I’m able to delete the text; but '' (instead of ‘members’) suprisingly produces ‘Mitglieder Verzeichnis’ (in German!) in des Frontend…

    —

    And the page title ‘groups’ is in the buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-loader.php

    @1a-spielwiese

    Thank you, @danbp!

    I opened the .pot-file finally not with poedit (there I didn’t found any aside-information), rather with an editor. There I got the information, that I can find, e.g., ‘Site-Wide-Activity’ in the buddypress/bp-activity/bp-activity-loader.php.

    I changed ‘Site-Wide-Activity’ into ‘Neuigkeiten aus dem 1a-Spielwiese-Netzwerk’ – and it works: 🙂

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/activity/

    I changed the original file at it’s original place. – Would it work with my child-theme-folder as well? If yes: Where I would have to place my bp-activity-loader.php-Copy?

    On the highest level of my child-theme-folder? Inside my buddypress-folder there or inside my buddypress/bp-activity-folder there? Or anywhere else?

    In general, I found a solution now – using my ‘BP profile search’-plugin and the WordPress design/menu-options:

    1. The list of my fan-members is now:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/mitglieder/?field_124=Fan&bp_profile_search=326;

    cfr.: http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Die_Fans_links_mark.jpg

    2. The list of my team-members is now:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/mitglieder/?field_124=Team&bp_profile_search=326

    cfr.: http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Die_Teams_links_mark.jpg

    3. My entire member-list is now:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/mitglieder/

    The fan- and the team-lists are now part of my header-menu; the entire member-liste not (because the latter I do not need).

    —–

    However, now I want to make some changes regarding my new fan- and team-pages:

    How can I delete the text, which is striked within the screeshots:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Die_Fans_text_to_delete.jpg

    und

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Die_Teams_text_to-delete.jpg

    ?

    Regarding the note at the end: You can ignore it. (I have decided to remove the blog-details-section from my registration page.
    When a new user register, then I [as the superadmin] now create a blog for him [or her] manually – and therefore I can choose for the subdomain-URL the same name as the user choose, for his/her user name. And everything is fine – insofar.)

    —

    However, my link issue persits:

    Let’s take for example my activity-page: Everywhere, where there currently for the user name “Fans Eins” is linked to http://1a-spielwiese.de/teams/fan1/ I want to link instead to http://fan1.1a-spielwiese.de – and the same regarding my other users and other places, where they are mentioned.

    How can I do this?

    @1a-spielwiese

    Participant

    Reminder:

    I want to split my members list into to two parts. Part I should consist of my users with the user role ‘team’ (or, respec., with the xProfile-field-answer ‘team’). And the second list should consist of my users with the user role ‘fan’ (or, respec., with the xProfile-field-answer ‘fan’).

    How can I do this?

    @1a-spielwiese

    @hnla / https://buddypress.org/support/topic/different-profile-types-and-different-user-roles-part-ii/#post-201146:

    By chance I found the solution regarding the ‘default user role’-issue:

    Within the wp-admin-folder there is not only an options-general.php, rather as well an options.php.

    Within the comment at the beginning of this file is written: ‘If accessed directly in a browser this page shows a list of all saved options along with editable fields for their values.’

    Therefore I adressed this file with 1a-spielwiese/wp-admin/options.php – and there I found the opportunity to change the default user role:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/wp-admin-options-php.jpg

    After changing it into ‘fan’ (note: it’s not possible to leave the line blank!), on the page options-general.php?page=wp-roles-at-registration it is now possible to select only the roles ‘fan’ and ‘team’:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/rar-settings_without_subscriber.jpg

    And after saving it, ‘subscriber’ disappears from the registration page as well:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/register-page_without_subscriber.jpg

    —-

    However, these other above mentioned problems:

    A. How can I make profile fields, which are asigned only to one member category / user role, ‘required’? Cfr. above.

    C. What is the purpose of the penultimate step of the instructions of @noizeburger? – What have I to check for seeing, whether it works or not?

    and

    D. Why does the last step of the instructions of @noizeburger do not work for me? How can I make the member category / user role unchangeable for my members?

    @amalsh / @jonaro / @lebearuk / @kamillamonkey and @jeffacubed:

    Do you have any idea regarding this issues?

    – cfr. regarding D.: http://kampfsportlerinnenneuwied.1a-spielwiese.de/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2014/09/user_role_still_changeble.jpg –

    are still unresolved.

    Let’s come back to the beginning:

    1st: Revolved.

    2nd: Resolved.

    a) I decided finally for having only one border color. If you want to have different border colors, you have to make different definitions for #buddypress .standard-form #basic-details-section and #buddypress .standard-form #profile-details-section

    and, if you use them, for: #user-role-section and #buddypress .standard-form #blog-details-section.

    b) I have abstained from having the text lines ‘WordPress’ respec. ‘BuddyPress’ at the borders and from making the bottom-borders more strong.

    3rd: Revoled.

    4th: Revolved.

    5th:

    I guess, it would be most comfortable, to have within the Dashboard check boxes for deciding, whether a certain field group or field should be displayed on registration page or not.

    Not revolved.

    6th to 8th:

    a) Finally I have abstained from having the blog-details-section on the registration page.

    b) I didn’t collect information about changing this section.

    —-

    So, the main issues are revolved. I would have no objections against marking the entire thread as ‘[Resolved’].

    @danbp:

    I found the solution:

    1st:

    The new code within my reddle-child/functions.php is now:

    /* Vorspann-Text für Neuigkeiten-Seite */

    function spielwiese() {
    echo '<p><small>Auf dieser Seite werden Dir alle Online-Aktivit&auml;ten bei 1a-Spielwiese angezeigt. Mit dem "Zeige"-DropDown-Men&uuml; auf der rechten Seite kannst Du die Liste auf jeweils eine bestimmte Art von Ereignissen (z.B. Profil-Aktualisierungen) einschr&auml;nken.
    <br>
    Wenn Du eingeloggt bist, siehst Du neben dem Tab "Alle Mitglieder" auch noch Tabs "Meine Gruppen" und "Erw&auml;hnungen". Mit diesen Tabs kannst Du Dir die Aktivit&auml;ten in den Gruppen, denen Du angeh&ouml;rst, bzw. die Neuigkeiten, in denen Du selbst erw&auml;hnt bist, anzeigen lassen.</
    <br>
    Au&szlig;erdem kannst Du die Neuigkeiten auch als <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS" target="_blank">RSS-Feed</a> abonnieren.
    <br>
    In den Neuigkeiten selbst werden Dir die 1a-Spielwiese-Mitglieder, die an den fraglichen Aktivit&auml;ten beteiligt waren, und ggf. die Gruppen, in denen bzw. in Bezug auf die die sie stattfanden, angezeigt. Wenn Du eingeloggt bist, kannst Du die einzelnen Neuigkeiten sowohl kommentieren als auch favorisieren. Nachdem Du die erste Neuigkeit favorisiert hast, erscheint ein neuer Tab zwischen "Meine Gruppen" und "Erw&auml;hnungen", der alle Deine "Favoriten" auflistet.</small></p>
    <br>';
    }
    add_action ( 'vorspann_activity-seite', 'spielwiese' );

    2nd:

    Within my reddle-child/buddypress/activity-folder is now a modified version of the index.php from the original buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity-folder.

    The modification is, that I inserted there between the lines

    <div id="buddypress">

    and

    <?php do_action( 'bp_before_directory_activity_content' ); ?>

    simple the line:

    <?php do_action( 'vorspann_activity-seite' ); ?>

    I guess: This thread can be marked as ‘[Revolved]’.

    @1a-spielwiese

    Participant

    PS. @ section 1.a):

    I have just seen:

    template_notices can’t used; it inserts the text at issue as well on the activity and group page.

    Therefore I did the following:

    a) I changed template_notices into rar_at_beginning.

    b) I inserted into register.php behind the lines

    		<?php if ( 'request-details' == bp_get_current_signup_step() ) : ?>

    			<?php do_action( 'template_notices' ); ?>

    that line:

    <?php do_action( 'rar_at_beginning' ); ?>

    —-

    Besides (whether with template_notices or with rar_at_beginning):

    Behind the line, to which the wp-role-at-registration.php refers, (for esthetical reasons regarding my borders) a <br> is needed.

    @1a-spielwiese

    Participant

    I found two more solutions:

    1st:

    a) The place of the field for determining the user role is depending on the plugins/wp-roles-at-registration/wp-roles-at-registration.php

    The relevant line of the original version of that file is:

    add_action('bp_after_signup_profile_fields', array($wp_rar_plugin, 'bp_choose_roles_registration_form'));

    I substituted there bp_after_signup_profile_fields by template_notices and now the field at issue is displayed not the end, rather at the beginning of my registration page:

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/registrieren/

    b)

    For creating the headline and the introductory text I made a second change within the same file. I changed the following section. The first and the last line of the quote is the original code, and the lines inbetween I inserted:

        <div class="register-section" id="user-role-section">

        <h4-a><?php _e( 'Benutzer/in/rolle', 'buddypress' ); ?></h4-a>

        <p><small><em>Entscheide Dich bitte als allererstes f&uuml;r eine der Benutzer/in/rollen "Team" oder "Fan" (bitte w&auml;hle nicht die Rolle "Subscriber"; diese Angabe soll noch gel&ouml;scht werden). In Abh&auml;ngigkeit von Deiner Antwort wirst Du nach Abschluss der Registrierung und wenn Du Dich das erste Mal bei 1a-Spielwiese einloggst und Dir Dein Profil ansiehst, die M&ouml;glichkeit haben, einige erg&auml;nzende rollenspezifische Profilangaben zu machen.</em></small></p>

        <label for="wp_rar_user_role"><?php echo $this->wp_rar_role_label; ?></label>

    2nd:

    As well I was able to integrate now not only the ‘base’-profile field group. For that it is neccessary to copy a long section of the buddypress register.php. This sections begins with:

    			<?php /***** Extra Profile Details ******/ ?>

    			<?php if ( bp_is_active( 'xprofile' ) ) : ?>

    				<?php do_action( 'bp_before_signup_profile_fields' ); ?>

    				<div class="register-section" id="profile-details-section">

    					<h4><?php _e( 'Profile Details', 'buddypress' ); ?></h4>

    					<?php /* Use the profile field loop to render input fields for the 'base' profile field group */ ?>

    					<?php if ( bp_is_active( 'xprofile' ) ) : if ( bp_has_profile( array( 'profile_group_id' => 1, 'fetch_field_data' => false ) ) ) : while ( bp_profile_groups() ) : bp_the_profile_group(); ?>

    And it ends with:

    					<input type="hidden" name="signup_profile_field_ids" id="signup_profile_field_ids" value="<?php bp_the_profile_field_ids(); ?>" />

    					<?php endwhile; endif; endif; ?>

    					<?php do_action( 'bp_signup_profile_fields' ); ?>

    				</div><!-- #profile-details-section -->

    			<?php endif; ?>

    The only two things, which are obligatory then:

    • You have to insert the entire copied section behind the last line of the original section.
    • And you have to change 'profile_group_id' => 1, into 'profile_group_id' => 2, (for adressing your second profile field group – and so on regarding the further profile field groups).

    Besides I changed the <h4>-headline and inserted introductory text behind that headline. Therefore my code there is:

    					<h4-a><?php _e( 'Profile Details - Teil II: Kontaktendaten', 'buddypress' ); ?></h4-a>

    				<p><small><em>Beachte bitte, dass Du in zu den Profilfeldern in diesem Abschnitt selbst entscheiden kannst, wem Deine Angaben, die machst, angezeigt werden sollen.</small></em></p>

    @1a-spielwiese

    Participant

    I tried the following:

    1st:

    I created a new profile ‘Tag’ (description: ‘der Geburt oder Teamgründung’).

    2nd:

    Consequently I substitute within the first code of @sbrajesh $dob_field_name by $tag.

    Besides I reduce $format="%y Years, %m Month(s), %d days" to $format="%y"

    Therefore the code, which I inserted into my reddle-child/functions.php, was:

    /**
    * Get Age from BuddyPress date of Birth
    * <a href='https://buddypress.org/community/members/param/' rel='nofollow'>@param</a> string $dob_field_name :name of the DOB field in xprofile, like Dob or Date of Birth
    * <a href='https://buddypress.org/community/members/param/' rel='nofollow'>@param</a> int $user_id : the user for which you want to retrieve the age
    * <a href='https://buddypress.org/community/members/param/' rel='nofollow'>@param</a> string $format: the way you want to print the difference, look t for the acceptable agrs
    * @return string :the formatted age in year/month
    */

    function bpdev_get_age_from_dob($tag,$user_id=false,$format="%y"){
    if(!$user_id)
    $user_id=bp_displayed_user_id ();

    $dob_time=xprofile_get_field_data($tag, $user_id);//get the datetime as myswl datetime

    $dob=new DateTime($dob_time);//create a DateTime Object from that

    $current_date_time=new DateTime();//current date time object
    //calculate difference
    $diff= $current_date_time->diff($dob);//returns DateInterval object
    //format and return
    return $diff->format($format);

    }

    3rd:

    I substitute within the second code of @sbrajesh "DOB Field Name" by tag and I deleted "Age"..

    Therefore I inserted into my reddle-child/buddypress/members/members-loop-.php:

    <td>Alter: <?php echo bpdev_get_age_from_dob(tag); ?> | </td>

    Result: I get for all user the age ‘0’ (zero) displayed.

    4th:

    For test purpose I substituted tag by tag,bp_loggedin_user_id().

    Then I get displayed the correct age of that user, which is currently logged in with my computer – but as age of all users.

    5th:

    Conclusion:

    echo bpdev_get_age_from_dob(tag); (cfr. section 3rd) is not the correct code for my purpose. – What have I to change?

    I tried as well tag,bp_displayed_user_id and tag,bp_members – both without and with () at the end (- instead of only tag). – All four variants did not work.

    —-

    Additional remark:

    That, what is described within section 4th works not, when the current user his-/herself has set his/her date of birth. It worked only, when the date of birth was set by the superadmin and then another user logged in.

    @1a-spielwiese

    Participant

    Ask the age instead of date of birth !

    That would imply that the users would have to update their profiles each years or would have every year the same age, isn’t it? –

    Therefore I will try the second way.

    @1a-spielwiese

    Participant

    I get now managed to place the information from the profile fields Geschlecht, Jahr, Bundesland/Kanton in one line (instead below each other):

    http://1a-spielwiese.de/teams/

    The code is now:

    <table-member border="0">
      <tr>
    	<td>| Geschlecht: <?php bp_member_profile_data( 'field=Geschlecht' ); ?> | </td>
    	<td>Geburts-/Gr&uuml;ndungsjahr: <strong><?php bp_member_profile_data( 'field=Jahr' ); ?></strong> | </td>
    	<td>Bundesland/Kanton: <?php bp_member_profile_data( 'field=Bundesland, Kanton oder Wahlkreis' ); ?> / </td>
    	<td><?php bp_member_profile_data( 'field=A:Bezirk oder Statutarstadt; CH: Bezirk o.ä.; D: LANDKREIS oder KREISFREIE STADT; Li: Gemeinde' ); ?> |</td>
       </tr>
    </table-member>

    Nevertheless

    • the problem regarding the field ‘A:Bezirk oder Statutarstadt; CH: Bezirk o.ä.; D: LANDKREIS oder KREISFREIE STADT; Li: Gemeinde’ persits: That information should appear at the ende of the line, betwen ‘/’ and ‘|’.
    • and as well I would still like to know, whether it is possible to transform the ‘year of birth’-information into an ‘age’-information.

    @1a-spielwiese

    Participant

    Even worse:

    My introductry text is still not only displayed on the activity page (where it should be displayed), but as well below the home tab of the group pages and below the activity tab of the member pages (where it should not be displayed).

    @1a-spielwiese

    Participant

    1. I renamed the second field from ‘Teamgründung bzw. Geburtsjahr’ into ‘year’ – and it works.

    2. With the field ‘Bezirk oder Statutarstadt; CH: Bezirk o.ä.; D: LANDKREIS oder KREISFREIE STADT; Li: Gemeinde’, again, it does not work. – Therefore I guess, the problem are blank, points etc. – Is true? Is there a any way to resolve the problem?

    3. Is there any way to get displayed the age at any current moment (instead of the year of brith or team fundation, which is inserted into profile fields)?

    ‘he original problem was that search engine indexing was disabled on my site.’

    I had the same problem as well. – I would like to propose: Placing on wp-admin/network/settings.php?page=bp-components inside the ‘Website tracking’-section a hint like: ‘On the page wp-admin/options-reading.php indexing by search machines must be allowed.’

    PS.:

    I guess, that thread can be marked as ‘[Resolved]’. – Besides I would like to suggest: Placing somewhere in the forum sidebar a link to a stream of all threads, which are marked as ‘[Resolved]’.

    1st:

    ‘Such custom function are added to child-theme functions.php’

    I did this, and I deactivated my reddle-child/buddypress/activtity-folder by renaming it. – I get the text displayed, but not at the place, where I want:

    2nd:

    I tried it as well by using the bp-custom.php:

    a) When I inserted your code at the end of that file, I got displayed nothing.

    b) And when I inserted it before the line <?php get_footer(); ?>:

    <?php
    /**
     * BuddyPress: Full-width template
     *
     * A custom page template without sidebar.
     *
     * @ since Reddlle 1.3.1 and BuddyPress 2.1
     */

    get_header(); ?>

    	<div id="primary">
    		<div id="content" role="main">
    			<?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?>
    				<?php get_template_part( 'content', 'page' ); ?>
    			<?php endwhile; // end of the loop. ?>
    		</div><!-- #content -->
    	</div><!-- #primary -->

    <?php get_footer(); ?>

    then I got my introductory text displayed behind the activity stream.

    @danbp:

    Thank you very much.

    ‘Write a function’

    You did this for me, isn’t it? It is the code at the end of your post?

    ‘add it to the existing hook’

    What does ‘add’ her mean? Is this adding simply the line add_action ( 'bp_before_activity_loop', 'spielwiese' ); in your code or have I to do something inside the activity-loop.php as well?

    ‘Of course, each function should also have a unique name’

    Is this specfic name already the word ‘spielwiese’ in your code – and it would be sufficient, when I use for the next function ‘spielwiese-1’? Or have I to create that specific name for the current function and to insert somewhere?
