In reply to: Field name not displayed in Registration form
I can create a new group and also add fields to it(I can’t see how to display the new group in the rigistration form)
Only the ‘base’-group is currently displayed on the registration page. The other profile fields the user should fill in later (after registration). –
However, I would also prefer to place all field groups already within the registration page:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/reshaping-the-registration-page/, section 4th.
In reply to: Creating a new profile -“field type”“BP’s xProfile component is not intended to be used as text editor, like the one you use to publish posts.”
However, if someone decides to have xProfile-fields like ‘Favorite Books’ or ‘Favorite Movies’ it would be nice, if the users could style the
- titels in italics
- and the authors respec. directors in regular.
As well ul- and li-tags for lists like, ‘favourite bands’ or ‘favorite dishes’ would be nice.
In reply to: Add a new field in the “profile fields”Test the ‘Multi-line Text area’. Maybe you can insert there not only text, rather html-code as well – if so, you can mention it within the ‘field description’, and the user get know, that they can use html-tags. –
En passant:
Maybe it would be helpfull, to make your thread title more precisely: ‘Creating a new profile-“field type”‘, or something like that.
In reply to: Add a new field in the “profile fields”Yes:
- Settings/BuddyPress/Compenents: Activate ‘Exteneded Profiles’
then:
- user/profile fields/add field – select the ‘field type’ you like
In reply to: [Resolved] Full Width Layout with “Reddle”-themenPS.:
margin: 0 9.46429%;I guess, it’s not the reason for the misfuncting; but however – due to other theme modifications (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/making-a-better-usage-of-my-blog-space?replies=2#post-6034077) – I should choose 2.5% (instead of 9.46429), isn’t it?
In reply to: [Resolved] Full Width Layout with “Reddle”-themenYes, I have
- a folder
wp-content/themes/reddle-child
and inside that folder:
- a
style.css. It’s content is:
/* Theme Name: Reddle Child Template: reddle */ @import url("../reddle/style.css"); /* =Theme customization starts here -------------------------------------------------------------- */ .buddypress #main #primary { margin: 0; } .buddypress #main #content { margin: 0 9.46429%; }- a
functions.php. It’s content is:
<?php /** * Enqueue stylesheet */ function reddle_child_theme_stylesheet() { wp_enqueue_style( 'reddle-child-themestyle', get_stylesheet_uri() ); } add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'reddle_child_theme_stylesheet' );- and a
buddypress.php. It’s content is:
<?php /** * BuddyPress: Full-width template * * A custom page template without sidebar. * * @ since Reddlle 1.3.1 and BuddyPress 2.1 */ get_header(); ?> <div id="primary"> <div id="content" role="main"> <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?> <?php get_template_part( 'content', 'page' ); ?> <?php endwhile; // end of the loop. ?> </div><!-- #content --> </div><!-- #primary --> <?php get_footer(); ?>In reply to: [Resolved] Registration Page Redirects to WP LoginWhenever I click on a link to go to the BP register page (separate browser – not logged in at all), I am redirected to the WP-Login page.
On sanchezbook.com the link for the register button is:
http://www.sanchezbook.com/register
On http://sanchezbook.com/wp-login.php the registration link is:
http://sanchezbook.com/wp-login.php?action=register
Therefore I guess, you should substitute in the first mentioned place the link address by the that address, which is used in the second place.

In reply to: Reshaping the registration pageShould it:
work for my purpose as well?
In reply to: [Resolved] Full Width Layout with “Reddle”-themenI have created within my child-theme-folder a functions.php with that code; but it still not works.
In reply to: Reshaping the registration page7th:
I would like to delete the field ‘Blog-URL’ although; instead I would like to use the username for the Blog URL automatically as well.
8th:
I would like to change:
Seitentitel (erforderlich)
into:
Wie soll Dein künftiger Blog (Webseite) heißen?
And I would like to place that field between ‘user name’ and ‘e-mail address’.
In reply to: Group BlogFor my point of view you have to do nothing special. You can use WordPress SingleSite without any group-specific plugin.
You can register a lot of users for one singular blog; some can be administrators and some authors only; and there are some other user levels (user roles):
https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities#Capability_vs._Role_Table
via http://faq.wpde.org/welche-benutzerrolle-bietet-welche-rechte/
In reply to: Buddypress notificationsI do not understand precisely, what your problem is. – However, have you activated the ‘Notification’-component of BuddyPress within your WordPress-settings (Settings/BuddyPress/Components)?
In reply to: Relocate member pagesI found a solution – not perfect, but similar to what I intended:
1st:
I deleted the page:
http://balletttaenzerinnenkrzbg36.1a-spielwiese.de/profil/
2nd:
Then I used the opportunity to define any link as menue-tab:

I inserted
http://1a-spielwiese.de/members/balletttaenzerinnenkrzbg36/profile/
to the URL-field and ‘Profil’ to the ‘Link Text’-field.
Then I clicked on ‘Zum Menü hinzufügen’ (Add to menue).
Finally I placed the new menue-tab in the second place and click on ‘Menü speichern’ (Save menue):

3rd:
However, still I would prefer, if the URL of the content at issue would be not
http://1a-spielwiese.de/members/balletttaenzerinnenkrzbg36/profile/,
rather:
In reply to: [Resolved] Full Width Layout with “Reddle”-themenThank you very much.
It works with the code for the buddypress.php + inserting the other code:
.buddypress #main #primary { margin: 0; } .buddypress #main #content { margin: 0 9.46429%; }via Dashboard / ‘Simple Custom CSS’-plugin.
—
But there still must be a mistake within the style.css for my child theme folder. It’s content is right now:
/* Theme Name: Reddle Child Template: reddle */ @import url("../reddle/style.css"); /* =Theme customization starts here -------------------------------------------------------------- */ .buddypress #main #primary { margin: 0; } .buddypress #main #content { margin: 0 9.46429%; }But it does not work without using ‘Simple Custom CSS’…
In reply to: [Resolved] Full Width Layout with “Reddle”-themenThank you.
1st:
Besides the different “HTML structure for Reddle and Twenty” Thirdteen I made earlier two fundamental mistakes:
a) I did not recognise, that the comment at the beginning of a child theme must be different, than the comment at the beginning of the parent theme.
‘The only required lines are the Theme Name, the Template.
The Template is the directory name of the parent theme.’
https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes#How_to_Create_a_Child_Theme
So, within my earlier attempt, step 4th it should have been not:
Theme Name: ReddleRather:
Theme Name: Reddle ChildAnd it was missing there the line:
Template: reddleIsn’t it?
b) I did not recognise the instruction:
Activate the child theme.
2nd:
However, now the content of the style.css within my reddle-child folder is:
/* Theme Name: reddle-child Template: reddle */ @import url("../reddle/style.css"); /* =Theme customization starts here -------------------------------------------------------------- */ @media screen and (min-width: 600px) { body.buddypress #primary { width: 100%; } }Is it correct?
Besides I activated the reddle-child theme, and deactiviated the reddle-theme. – Nevertheless it still not works.
3rd:
‘Copy over the content of Twenty Twelve’s full-width.php file into the new buddypress.php file.’
The ‘Reddle’-theme does not have any full-width.php
Therefore I took directly the code, which is mentioned there.
Therefore content of my buddypress.php within my reddle-child-folder is now:
<?php /** * BuddyPress: Full-width Page Template, No Sidebar * * A full-width template for all BuddyPress pages. * * @ since Reddle 1.0 and BuddyPress 2.1 */ get_header(); ?> <div id="primary" class="site-content"> <div id="content" class="full-width" role="main"> <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?> <?php get_template_part( 'content', 'page' ); ?> <?php endwhile; // end of the loop. ?> </div><!-- #content --> </div><!-- #primary --> <?php get_footer(); ?>4th:
But nevertheless it does not work.
Thank you.
“a very good reason to always test custom code locally before using it on a production site.”
The entire 1a-spielwiese.de-network is right now only for test purposes and getting feedback from some people from other towns / countries, who have not access to my local computer.
It works now. But I have no idea, what could be the reason for now working and not working before.
As far as I remember, I have only
— changed the file attributes for the subfolders of the wp-content folder
— installed “More about me”-plugin
and
— solved that problem: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/what-happened-to-these-buddypress-plugins/#post-197321
PS.:
I have no problem to access the BuddyPress Settings within the Dashboard (components, pages, settings).
I can as well access to “Benutzer/Profilfelder” (users/profile fields), “activity” and “groups” within the Dashboard.
In reply to: What happened to these Buddypress Plugins?Perfect!
1st:
“When it is written // hacks and mods will go here, you add hacks and mods at that place, and NOT above or below or outside of the <?php …. ?> tags !”
It would be nice to mention there within the description of the code, that
<?phpmarks the beginning
and that
?>marks the end of the file.
2nd:
“great lack of understanding”
It would be nice as well to place somewhere on the start page of http://buddypress.org a highlighted link to a section like “You want not only to use BuddyPress as it is, but also to change it’s appearance and code. HERE you find the most basic information regarding the structure and functiong of BuddyPress.”
In reply to: What happened to these Buddypress Plugins?1st:
Yes, I did not inserting at the beginning of the bp-custom.php:
<?php // hacks and mods will go here ?>I would like to suggest to set there (and at all similar places) links from “bp-costum.php” to https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/bp-custom-php/
2nd:
But even after inserting the three above mentioned lines it does not work.
3rd:
With that code I had yesterday the same problem: It worked with inserting the code into the functions.php of my theme folder, but it works not with inserting it – as suggusted there – to bp-custom.php.
4th:
a) Currently the name of the file is:
bp-custom.php
b) It is placed within the folder wp-content/plugins (not inside the buddypress folder; rather on the same level as the buddypress folder).
c) The entire content of the file is:
<?php // hacks and mods will go here ?> function bbg_change_profile_tab_order() { global $bp; $bp->bp_nav['profile']['position'] = 10; $bp->bp_nav['activity']['position'] = 20; $bp->bp_nav['blogs']['position'] = 30; $bp->bp_nav['friends']['position'] = 40; $bp->bp_nav['messages']['position'] = 50; $bp->bp_nav['groups']['position'] = 60; $bp->bp_nav['settings']['position'] = 70; } add_action('bp_setup_nav', 'bbg_change_profile_tab_order', 999 ); /** * Change BuddyPress default Members landing tab. */ define('BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT', 'profile' );d) I changed the wp-config.php and the functions.php back to their old versions. But it still does not work:
The code of the bp-custom.php appears above the header of blog:
http://1a-spielwiese.de/members/balletttaenzerinnenkrzbg36/
and the “Activity”-Tab and it’s content is displayed at first.
In reply to: What happened to these Buddypress Plugins?Thank you.
With inserting it to the config.php it works.
But via creating a bp-custom.php it causes only above to blog header the line:
/** * Change BuddyPress default Members landing tab. */ define(‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘profile’ );
Cfr. again: http://1a-spielwiese.de/members/balletttaenzerinnenkrzbg36/
In reply to: Relocate member pagesThe users have (respec. should have) a blog (*), and I would prefer to get the information at issue displayed within their individual blogs and not as pages of the start-blog of the entire network.
My question is not regarding creating the blogs (with that I do not have any problem), rather regarding automatically placing the content at issue within the individual blogs (and not on the network-level).
In reply to: What happened to these Buddypress Plugins?I’m still interested in a solution for that:
Besides I would like to determine that the first information about any “member”, which is displayed, is not “activity”, rather “profile”. – Exists for that a solution as well?
(Currently only the sequence of the tabs is changend, but not the sequence of what is shown at first – it’s still “activity”, and not “profile”.)
