In reply to: Group Blog + P2 or Posthaste
Feel free to look at some of the code in the groupwiki plugin for frontend blog posting. Or if you’d like to chat about any of it, drop me a message
In reply to: User notification when new reply etcGood points really. I guess having things configurable is the important thing. Letting site admins have control of things is best, as long as there is a suggested/default behaviour that fits most needs.
In reply to: Group extensions and componentsTry outputting the $bp global on a site when you’re viewing the group homepage. I think that should show all of the components registered at that time (assuming you have access).
In regards to my own plugins, both of them use the group extension in one way or another – group wikis and group activity notifications.
In reply to: User notification when new reply etcIt wouldn’t be that hard to make it work that way, nope. Though it might cause issues if we implemented digests of posts/etc.
My main concern in doing it this way would be that the notifications area in the buddybar might become a bit swamped. I know that on facebook I’ve started to ignore the notifications area because I simple got too tired of having to delete thousands of pointless invites/etc that I wasn’t interested in.

People should feel free to do the same with buddypress extensions :p
In reply to: Plugin Devs Please ReadGreat, thanks

I know in the past, especially when first starting out, I often used those code snippets as a starting point.
In reply to: Plugin Devs Please ReadHi Andy,
I would recommend adding this code snippet to the skeleton component/group api code/docs too if you’ve not already done so.
In reply to: Deep integration of Google DocsNot to try and pimp the Group Wiki plugin too much but it’s probably closer to a group collaborative document / group file storage method than a real wiki (hence close to some aspects of GoogleDocs).
Unfortunately at our University we aren’t able to make use of googledocs for student work due to concerns over the hosting of the data, otherwise we probably would have gone this route rather than the wiki route.
In reply to: Request from Designer to Plugin DevelopersIs there a guide for this somewhere? I could look myself but if there is a suggested way to do it then it’ll save me a bit of time :p
In reply to: BuddyPress LikeThis looks very interesting indeed:)
In reply to: how to calm down comment nestingI’ve just added this to namoo and it seems to have squashed things down nicely. We might have to add something extra to make it easier to work out what is going on though, and to remove the large grey areas.
Very useful though, thanks
In reply to: Plugin Release: BuddyPress Group WikisNp.
Redownload it in 15 minutes. I messed it up
In reply to: Plugin Release: BuddyPress Group WikisI think I forgot to change something in wiki comment php and revision compare php files. Going to update now and release a new version.
In reply to: Plugin Release: BuddyPress Group WikisHey.
I’ll have a look at this tomorrow/the day after. I’m very busy with work at the moment sorry.
In reply to: bp group-documents: date and time pbI think it’s the change to GMT time functions in BuddyPress. Something we all need to start taking notice of
Ah, thanks for this input. I wasn’t sure if it was just me going mad or something

If nobody chimes in with something that shows us both as just missing something obvious I’ll post a ticket in trac.
In reply to: BP 1.2 and Group Extension APIAh, no worries.
The code I used was posted by DJPaul a while back and that seems to work a lot better for me than the ‘proper’ way. I’ve no idea why.
Hi Paul,
The full code is in this (small) plugin here:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-activity-stream-subscription/
The url is created with the following code:
class Group_Activity_Subscription extends BP_Group_Extension {
function group_activity_subscription() {
global $bp;
$this->name = 'Notifications';
$this->slug = 'notifications';
// Only enable the notifications nav item if the user is a member of the group
if ( groups_is_user_member( $bp->loggedin_user->id , $bp->groups->current_group->id ) ) {
$this->enable_nav_item = true;
} else {
$this->enable_nav_item = false;
}
$this->nav_item_position = 91;
$this->enable_create_step = false;
$this->enable_edit_item = false;
add_action ( 'wp_print_styles' , array( &$this , 'add_settings_stylesheet' ) );
}In reply to: BP 1.2 and Group Extension APII’m using it for my two plugins without any issues.
In reply to: Lots of new features (Direction / Guidance)A mistake that I’ve not managed to resolve/had time to sort out. If you have any suggestions I’m all ears
In reply to: Lots of new features (Direction / Guidance)Hi there. The plugin also allows admins/mods to email members with important notifications.
This is probably a failure in terms of documentation on my part, sorry
In reply to: Plugin Release: BuddyPress Group WikisCool. I’m glad it’s working okay for you
In reply to: Lots of new features (Direction / Guidance)Hi,
#2 already exists in my group activity stream notification plugin
In reply to: Plugin Release: BuddyPress Group WikisApologies for spam but there’s another fix uploaded. Be sure to update
In reply to: Warning Error MessageIs your buddypress functions file definitely present at /home/pgnew/public_html/wp-content/themes/wp-clear-basic/bp/bp-functions.php ?
Looks like it isn’t finding it…
