@desininja, I remember @Andrea_r mentioned in this forum or in trac about adding some changes/files to twenty ten theme to make it function better with BuddyPress, don’t know if it’s been released yet.

@andrea_r http://mystique.bp-theme-converts.com/downloads/buddypressmystique.zip It’s not perfect, main problem being the Mystique JS conflicts with the BuddyPress JS so I have disabled Mystique JS on BuddyPress pages. The problem with this is the Mystique tabbed widget no longer works on BuddyPress pages, so I set to display none on those pages.…[Read more]

@andrea_r I’m following this thread with great interest. I’m the guy @vee_bee referred to with a similar query/setup as being discussed here. https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/single-login-with-multiple-bp-sub-domain-installs-is-it-possible/ Brief recap from my earlier post Example: petlovers.com – d…[Read more]

@andrea_r I’d say that MU isn’t distributed in the way that’s important here, because the data is all stored in the same db, on the same server (at least that’s how it works by default). In a truly distributed network, each individual/cluster of individuals would have full, sysadmin level control over his or her data. WP/BP […]

Thanks @andrea_r
I’ve changed every password and am working on loading in a fresh MU install, then I’ll start working on themes.Ug.

@andrea_r Ok then that’s not so funny, although reading a few of those posts in the link you provided do seem to suggest that the hacks were in a uploaded free theme. If it’s a ftp compromise it’s really about time ftp was simply forbidden or retired :), such an insecure means of accessing a server […]

You should ask this question in the Alpha/Beta forum https://wordpress.org/support/forum/12 @Andrea_r has posted relevant info about setting up a Network in WP 3.0 https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network Note : Subdomains work by using wildcard subdomains. You must have this enabled in Apache, and you must also add a wildcard subdomain to your…[Read more]

@Andrea_r, I was thinking about the same thing. Perhaps a coding guru who can create a multi-site plugin for WPMU can make a multi-site plugin for BP? (hint, hint) 🙂

@andrea_r Your use case is a pretty sensible one. Can’t believe you’d suggest that one CUNY school has no interest in the others, though 😉

@andrea_r I don’t want a forum, I want BuddyPress, just the way it is 🙂 The extent of “forum-capability” BP delivers fully satisfies my needs. Maybe I’ve phrased myself badly in earlier posts. I don’t need BP to act like a forum; in fact, the reason I take such an interest in BuddyPress is because it […]

@andrea_r You say BuddyPress is not a forum. Before it integrated bbPress into the core, I would agree. Now, BP better put that script to excellent use, or else it’s just bloat. The fact that bbPress is ‘in between places’ these days has made many of us bbP enthusiasts turn to BP as it’s successor, since […]

@skcsknathan001, second what @Andrea_r said. The plugin’s working very well in WPMU 2.9.2 with BP 1.2.3 using subdomain structures. I haven’t tested this yet in installs with subdirectory strucutres, but since all your other MU plugins – Ada Recent Posts, Ada List All, etc – work well in both structures per my experience, I don’t foresee any […]

@Andrea_r: yeah, the password really does not matter…it’s just to access the site in general.
