In reply to: Forum create only available to certain members
Thanks @nit3watch
Wouldn’t it be simple to hide the option “create a forum” from members so that only admins and moderators can create forums? What is the code to check? Is it is_group_admin or is_group_mod?
In reply to: Forum create only available to certain membersThanks @mercime but I looked at those plugins and I believe they won’t work for my situation (am I missing something?)
I have a group “Sport News” with a couple of members and one administrator. I want to have the ability so that only the administrator or moderator(s) can create a new forum topic. Other members can reply to the forum topic that the administrator has started but they cannot start their own forum topics in that specific group.
In reply to: Custom URL’sThanks @nuprn1 it’s also on the default theme groups/create.php so will have to change it there as well?
Anyone fixed this yet?
In reply to: BuddyPress Group Tags is now availableThanks @nit3watch
In reply to: BuddyPress Group Tags is now availableCan anyone help me with this?
In reply to: BuddyPress Group Tags is now availableGot it working, used the code @r-a-y suggests here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/g-field-this-plugin-adds-an-additional-field-to-group-creation/
update *
It works now with the group creation but not when editing a group.
In reply to: BuddyPress Group Tags is now availableI have looked at the database, it adds it to the wp_bp_groups_groupmeta table on step 2 when creating a group but as soon as you go to step 3, it deletes it.
In reply to: BuddyPress Group Tags is now availableIt adds tags when you update a group but not when you create a group
In reply to: BuddyPress Group Tags is now available@dwenaus – awesome plugin but I have one problem with it. When I create a new group and going from step 2 (settings) to step 3 (upload avatar) it loses the tags I have added on the first screen. The only way to add them again is to go edit the group. I’m running WP 3.0 and the latest version of BP.
In reply to: Activity links open in new windowThanks @r-a-y. I found this plugin that seems to do the trick – http://www.semiologic.com/software/external-links/
In reply to: Limiting characters on status updateOk, did a search and implemented this: http://www.virtuosomaster.com/tutorials/how-to-limit-the-number-of-characters-in-a-textarea-witch-character-counter/
Seems as though it works but will have to test it further.
In reply to: Limiting characters on status updateThanks @nuprn1. Easier said than done. Will start experimenting
In reply to: How to create a custom home page + login formThanks @techguy
I’ve added an if statement on the template page underneath get header section to check if the user is logged in and then redirect them with bp_core_redirect but it gives the error of “Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by…./pluggable.php on line 868”
I’ve replaced that with javascript redirect: window.location = “http://mydomain.com/activity” but I’m not to keen on using javascript for redirection.
In reply to: Main blog not showingFixed
Nope, after the upgrade its the same
Will start playing with it
In reply to: Add reply still visible after logoutThanks for the reply Ray, I had but I have disable them all a couple of days ago.
On the modified default theme I had to edit “groupssingleforumtopic.php”
I added and if statement with is_user_logged_in() just above div post-topic-reply and now it’s displaying correctly but I’m sure that’s not the way to do it.
In reply to: Add reply still visible after logoutFigured it out
This has been going on since my first install of BP. Changing the server time on the dashboard doesn’t change this.
