@asieger as hnla mentioned above, deactivate BuddyPress and BP plugins. Can you register/activate an account with BP deactivated?

@asieger A rather basic question: Have you checked the Spam folders in your email accounts?

but the Register page isn’t showing the expected registration page, instead it took me to the Home page of the website when i clicked on view

@asieger that’s is the default behavior when you go to the registration page while you’re still logged in. Log out first.
