Boone Gorges posted on the forum topic How to integrate cubepoints? in the group Invite Anyone: 13 years, 11 months ago
Hi there, The developer of the BP Cubepoints plugin is working on integration with Invite Anyone – we’ve been in contact here https://buddypress.org/community/groups/cubepoints-buddypress-integration/forum/topic/suggested-intergration/ among other places. You might ping him to ask whether it’s coming soon. Good idea about providing an invitation…[Read more]

Boone Gorges posted on the forum topic BP External Activity – pulling RSS into the sitewide stream in the group Creating & Extending: 13 years, 11 months ago
@paulhastings0 Yeah, you could definitely do that. It might take a bit of tooling to make sure that items from a given feed are matched with the correct user in your BP installation. But it has the potential to allow users to create content anywhere and pull it into your community, in a facebookish sort of […]

Boone Gorges posted on the forum topic How to remove those brackets ? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 11 months ago
IMHO, murder is a sin. This is a little further down the scale. Use a custom language file to get rid of these numbers in parentheses. https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ Look for entries like
Groups <span>(%d)</span>
and replace them withGroups
. Eventually it would be nice to get this markup out of…[Read more] -

The tutorial is not very clear on that, no. But you can see that it’s expecting the file to be named that way, since BPLANG is defined as ‘mysite’ and it’s looking for a file called ‘buddypress-‘ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’.
Glad it works! I should fix up the codex page so that it’s clearer.

Just put out the first rough draft of a plugin to pull arbitrary RSS items into the sitewide activity stream. Please play around with it and let me know if you can make it work: http://teleogistic.net/code/buddypress/bp-external-activity/

That code looks correct, as long as your .mo file is located at
wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-languages/buddypress-mysite.mo
Are you sure you’ve named it correctly? -

Use pastebin.com to post code and then put a link here. I’d like to see what’s in your bp-custom.php file.
bp-custom.php should be in wp-content/plugins.

Make sure you’ve got the path to the .mo file correct. The tutorial assumes that you’re keeping it at wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-languages. Is that where you’ve got it?
Can you post the code that you’re using in your bp-custom.php file?

Boone Gorges posted on the forum topic Using image upload in my plugin in the group Creating & Extending: 13 years, 11 months ago
Ah, you’re doing it from the BP frontend. No, there is no standard image uploader for BP, or even for WP as far as I know. (Sadly.) Here are some examples of plugins that allow file uploads. Each takes a different tack. Maybe you can decide what you want to do based on them. – […]

Try moving the @import rule to the very first thing in the document. http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/cascade.html#at-import

Right, I was assuming that the directory structure was wp-content/bp-languages. And yes, it’s a good idea to relocate it.

I wrote a plugin called Invite Anyone that doesn’t do quite what you are looking for (it doesn’t restrict registration) but it could be modified to do what you’re asking: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/invite-anyone/

Kalman, the plugin should work fine on 2.9.2, even if I haven’t tagged it as such. Should work for 3.0, for that matter.
Is *any* of the code in bp-custom.php being activated? Maybe it’s a problem with that file.

Boone Gorges posted on the forum topic Language file load evidence? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 11 months ago
I think that your file location is the problem. If you have your file in wp-content, it should read
load_textdomain( 'buddypress', '/wp-content/bp-languages/bp-family-' . BPLANG . '.mo' );

Boone Gorges posted on the forum topic adding new alert into activity stream in the group Creating & Extending: 13 years, 11 months ago
@ninanoki – There are three strategies for doing what you want to do. 1) Load WP/BP in the background when you, for instance, save a mediawiki edit. You can do that by including wp-load.php. Then you can use the BP activity API, as @nuprn1 suggests above. The downside is that you’ve got a lot of overhead, loading […]

Depends how you’re doing it. If you’re using custom post types in WP 3.0, uploads should be enabled by default with the editor: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type

Boone Gorges posted on the forum topic Getting rid of all activity before I go live in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 13 years, 11 months ago
The safest way is to go through the UI on the front end and manually delete all the content items (forum posts, etc) and activity items, and then to delete all the test members from the Dashboard. I don’t suggest selective deletion directly from the database unless you really know what you’re doing. Or you […]

Boone Gorges posted on the forum topic can we clean up the Extend tab at buddypress.org so that only 'real' buddypress plugins show up. in the group Requests & Feedback: 13 years, 11 months ago
I’ll have to go back and rename some of my plugins, if this happens. There’s got to be a better way. Maybe sortabllity by rating or popularity as determined by bp.org users, which would filter out the irrelevant stuff.
