The chat system kicks ass.. Super impressed so far.. Keep up the great work!
I agree. It would be a nice integration. however, i think that it needs to be integrated with the wordpress users table first.
Here is the description of the album component thats said to be out in 09 sometime.
“Photo Albums
Members of a BuddyPress installation will be able to create their own photo albums. These albums can be shared with friends and groups.
Each member will be given a certain amount of space, which can be set by the site administrator. Albums and photos can be tagged. It will also be possible to browse public photos via photo tag pages that other members can browse (just as you browse blogs via tags on wordpress.com).
Photos can also be tagged to a group as mentioned previously in the group component overview.
Photos can be uploaded from a members computer, and will be re-sized accordingly using the built in WordPress image manipulation functions.”
I love the the photo gallery component idea! However doesn’t Andy have the Album feature on the agenda after 1.0 production release?
One of the folks from Kaltura chimed in awhile back and said that they were interested in helping… Im sure its just a matter of time..
Wow.. the Site Wide Plugin looks fantastic.. This makes for loads of possibilities.. like a standard wpmu album plugin. of course only after integrating the code to display it in the members directory. ..
I would really like to see the blogging functionality get added to the buddypres administration pages rather than the standard wp admin back-end. Any hopes of this being done?

how about a plugin that would allow a user to join group(s) when they signup for their account, rather than after.. Ideally the group selection being an Admin Sponsored Group. That way zillions of groups aren’t shown in the selection list.
Admin Sponsored Groups.

You need a wildcard dns entry for subdomains added. If you are on a shared hosting plan your host provider will most likely need to add this for you…

So far we still only have 3 ($150 bucks). If no-one else is willing to chip in then i say we charge for the plugin until the development cost is covered. Any other ideas?
GPO – how long of a time frame did the developer give you? Lets start throwing together the money and get it going…. Excuse my excitement.
Zohar – I love the Kaltura plugin – this would be a great addition. Has anyone seen if the current instance works on MU?
I’ll throw in 50 to 100 dollars. So far, we have 3 people in and 17 more to go?
Anyone else?

I’m currently using future hosting VPS (futurehosting.biz) and am happy as pie. I spent hours researching VPS providers and it was down to SliceHost and Future Hosting. I decided to go with Future Hosting strictly based on cost vs. given resources.
I second the the fact that VPS or a Dedicated server is the best route. Shared hosting is great for a super small WPMU site, anything over a 50 or so active users your going to run into resource issues.
Has anyone messed around with Amazon’s EC2 and S3 services?

This is excellent news Andy! I like the one shot creation of username, home-base and blog..
Thanks!

Excellent! Thanks a bunch Andy!
Wow. I’m super impressed and excited for the future of buddypress. Do you think a version 2 will be part of the dec release?
Keep up the great work Andy!
