I remember it being a table used to build actual stuff from a template of stuff. New user roles may have been only one item in the mix.

I remember discussing something like this with jjj once. The wp_options table is some kind of special wp role template thing used when creating new users. You notice that it doesn’t have the blog id in there like wp_1_options.

I don’t remember what the context of the problem was though or why we stumbled on this table name. Well that wasn’t much help was it?

The OCI_Item_RSS_Listener class will obviously only handle *new* content items coming in from any RSS feed.

    * A site designer could hook up a variety of feeds and have them go to a particular container like /feeds.

    * A group admin could hook up group specific feeds to automatically create items in the group tree.

    * I could have feeds that I’m interested in go to /members/burtadsit/profile

The OCI_Item_XMLRPC_Listener class will respond to all the usual suspect actions – create/update/delete from an external source. The requirement will be that the external site be running a subset of the bpContents plugin. An external site can run all the normal listener derived classes like OCI_Item_Blog_Post_Listener and instead of stuffing the OCI_Items into a local content tree it packages the items up and sends them off to a remote site.

For those following along from home, the OCI_Item_Listener class will get derived classes other than the current OCI_Item_Blog_Post_Listener. That monitors blog post create/updated/delete activities in wp and dispatches item create/update/delete actions to any container in the tree that cares to listen for such things.

I\’ve got an OCI_Item_XMLRPC_Listener class half built. Along with that I\’ll release a OCI_Item_RSS_Listener class.

I\’m testing the OCI_Item_Blog_Post_Listener/OCI_Item_Listener classes now. That\’s the only thing holding back the release of the core code right now. I made some changes in the code when I was doing that \’Burt is talking to himself again\” thing that I call docs. Guess what? I broke things.

No, it’s not designed to be used other than in a single instance on whatever blog you define to be the ‘home’ blog.

You are using the new bp home theme for *all* blogs?

    All blogs are using /themes/bphome

All blogs used to be using /themes/buddypress-home

You have manually gone in to each blog’s Appearance > Theme menu and selected the bp home theme. Now the nav links return 404 on anything other than blog id 1.

    Correct?

I’m not sure what the taxonomy tables have to do with anything but you can upgrade to 1.0 now. There are many new theme author friendly templates, templatetags that can do what you want alot easier than sql queries.

You are going to get the same answers for this same question you posted here:

    @burtadsit

Yes it does. You have to follow the wpmu install instructions exactly. You need wildcard DNS setup on your server.

I thought about this kind of thing too. Problem was I didn\’t want to become an email provider simply to provide a cool convenience feature. I\’m not an email guru. Do email protocol servers have a wildcard DNS type feature?

    *.user@mysite.org

    *@mysite.org

Gets you somewhere in the bowels of the email server and winds up in the \’unknown address\’ bucket. I get a response back normally that tells me that it\’s an invalid address. Nobody here like that buddy.

What if that \’unknown address\’ reponse got hooked and we looked up valid wpmu usernames instead of valid email users? Don’t create email accounts. Just respond to matches with vaild users for incoming only events.

cyndy, go to the wpmu back end BuddyPress > General Settings and just Save Settings on that page after selecting the bp 1.0 member theme. bp might not be detecting the new member theme location. Upgrading to 1.0 means that the member theme is now located in /wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember

Give that a save there and see if the problem goes away.

Did you notice the theme folder name changes?

jotem, look for references to ‘root component’. That’s what you are describing.

Do you mean that you have users being registered without the site admin getting notification of that? There are a couple of settings in Site Admin > Options that control this:

    Registration notification

Send the site admin an email notification every time someone registers a blog or user account.

    Add New Users

Allow blog administrators to add new users to their blog via the Users->Add New page

The second setting might be the culprit. It allows people who are blog admins to create people and bypass the registration process. I haven’t tested to see if it also sends out an email to the site admin.

bp is a site wide only plugin. You can’t activate it on a selective basis.

Are you using wpmu 2.7.1, bp RC2 and this version: http://testbp.org/resources/bp-skeleton-component-1.2.zip

    @burtadsit

I think the reason you haven’t gotten a response here is that people are having trouble understanding what you are talking about. Are you using wpmu 2.7.1 as well as bp RC2? wpmu 2.7.1 is required.

“New topic posts do not show up in the site wide activity widget.” is this related to posts created in bbPress? Not through bp’s group forums right? That’s normal. bp only records activity created through bp.

Not sure what is going on with your wire posts. Do you have any errors in your apache/php error logs?

Users must be Authors on that blog to create posts and publish them. This is controlled by you. There is no setting that allows this or doesn’t.

You’re using Community Blogs plugin. If you have this installed and activated on the main blog and have it set to allow any member or members of specific bp group to automatically become Authors then they will be able to post to your main blog.

Disable Community Blogs on your main blog or take their member level down to Contributors. You can still have Community Blogs activated on other blogs.

I give up for the day. It’s nobody. The problem never existed. Remind me to delete this thread.

An hour and one major panic amongst devs on irc later. It was me. It’s you too more than likely.
