    It must be because you are running an older version of BP alunsina. Sign up goes to the registration form. What happens when you upgrade BP? White screen of death? There have been lots of changes recently including changes to the directory structure for the member themes. See: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1675

    That was effective rev 1211. Make sure you update the member and home themes also. Lots of changes in the security area from wpmu 2.6 to 2.7.

    When you upgrade to the latest bp what do the apache error logs say? That’s the only way to find out what is going wrong. White screen of death means that a fatal php error is happening.

    Let the competition begin! Mine is flying through the ether at this very moment. We still got ‘ether’ don’t we? Sorry that it’s boring, uncontroversial and reveals no secrets.

    Ya right.

    Well, that’s a unique problem. Never seen that before. I did notice that you are using wpmu 2.6.5 and don’t know what ver bp it is. There were versions of bp that worked with 2.6.5 but RC1 needs 2.7.

    OK. Trying to sort out the issues here. :) We got what I think we should try and solve first and that may make the rest of the issues go away.

    Users in wp can’t login to bbpress. If you have user integration configured correctly then that can’t happen. When wp and bbpress share the same user table, which is what user integration is, then bbpress’s users ARE wp users. Same user table and passwords.

    Do you have wp/bbpress user integration?

    It’s possible to create a standalone wp and standalone bbpress. Create the utility user for group forums on both sides and be able create forums through bp group forums. Never thought of it before but you can. Without user integration it would explain the symptoms you are experiencing.

    Take two asprins, install bbpress with wp user integration and call me in the morning.

    Howdy. This is a wpmu and linux configuration issue. Turning off the support light because it’s not a bp issue. This will get bumped and perhaps somebody with experience in this area will see the question.

    Whenever I signup for a site it gives me a random password. I immediately go and change it to something I remember.

    Nice job oldskoo1. Slick and it’s a great idea. I know that kinda thing would have been very appreciated when I was younger with kids. Being a parent is just plain terrifying the first time. “What are we doing wrong?”, “Why is he still crying!”, worried to let him out in the front yard. Ya know, normal stuff that isn’t normal because you’ve never done it before.

    Normal changes.

    With the 2nd kid it wasn’t terrifying to let him play in the front yard near the street as much. We just learned to listen for the sound of screeching tires. Anything else wasn’t worth bothering with. :)

    Don’t forget to post your site here: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=185

    Sounds like a user switching/authentication problem. When bp talks to bbpress it uses xmlrpc and then uses the logged in (in bp) user’s credentials to work in bbpress. Only for creating posts and topics. Creation of forums and reading topics, posts goes under the utility user that gets setup in config.

    Do you have the var: $bb->bb_xmlrpc_allow_user_switching = true; declared in bb-config.php? If somehow bp/mu is confused about the var: $current_user->user_login then it will have problems authenticating your normal users on the bbpress side.

    Don’t use the LDAP plugin and don’t know what the implications for authentication are in xmlrpc. This does sound like it’s related to that. Your users can’t authenticate on the bbpress side so, failure.

    https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1314 start there. Look at the code for bp-core-adminbar.php

    Create a function that is your new top level item and submenus. Use add_action() to hook up the new function/menu item.

    wp relies on usernames. bp uses the full name when displaying user info. There isn’t a switch to flip for turning off wp’s reliance on usernames that I’m aware of. Course I’ve been wrong alot lately.

    bp doesn’t control how or if registration emails are sent. It relies on wp to do that. It depends on your host and if you have wpmu configured properly. I signed up with your site and didn’t get an email either. So it’s not just you. Try the wpmu forums for help. https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/

    You can supply your own admin bar if you like. From /bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php:

    add_action( ‘bp_adminbar_logo’, ‘bp_adminbar_logo’ );

    add_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_login_menu’, 2 );

    add_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_account_menu’, 4 );

    add_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_blogs_menu’, 6 );

    add_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_notifications_menu’, 8 );

    add_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_authors_menu’, 12 );

    add_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_random_menu’, 100 );

    Those are the actions that are triggered for each of the major menu sections. For ‘my account’ it’s the function bp_adminbar_account_menu(). In bp-custom.php, make one if you don’t have one, do:

    remove_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_account_menu’, 4 );

    add_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘my_account_menu’, 4 );

    function my_account_menu(){

    <your stuff here for the account menu>

    }

    The bpGroups plugin doesn’t support deep integration. It wasn’t designed with that in mind. jjj has developed a work around to get things running.

    I’m not sure what the problem is Matt. There is no /blog directory in bp.

    RC1 is ‘member-themes’ latest trunk is ‘bp-themes’

    Seems like you need to re-upload bp. You didn’t get everything.

    This the same operating system version? Same host? Upgrade apache?

    It worked for 2.6.5. Well, it doesn’t work that way now. For some unknown reason.

    You have apache AND wpmu handling home.php and index.php in some fashion that doesn’t work any more. Both of them have sequences and overrides and whatever. You have multiple index files and multiple applications having possible control over them in some fashion that can’t be debugged.

    Abandon what doesn’t work and figure out a different way of doing it.

    What does your link to the ‘community’ bp look like? Just: http://wikiroma.it? If that’s the case then the .htaccess rule you specified:

    DirectoryIndex home.php index.php

    Takes over and loads home.php like you told it to. If index.php is not specified explicitly with http://wikiroma.it/index.php then you’ll get home.php.

    Actually this isn’t a bug. It’s just the way widgets work in wp. The title is one way they are identified. Change the title (translated) and the widget doesn’t exist because it’s registered with the original language.
