    If you can use the bp group forums from bp then all is well. Gimme a minute here and I’ll find a spot to put some debug code.

    Where is that var_dump()?

    What are you getting now? If not the mem error.

    Nah. Both ixr libs can’t be loaded at the same time. It would error out. A whole bunch of mem is being allocated for some reason. Lemme check the code and see what could possibly be running amok if I had deep going.

    I’ll just have to fire it up (deep) and test it. How do you turn that on? I had it running once but can’t remember what to do in the config files.

    No, I can’t imagine it’s allocating that much mem for anything. That spot in the ixr library is for getting the xml values for a ‘struct’. I’m not transferring structs at all. It has a specific option in that fn for ‘array’ and that’s the closest thing.

    Anyway. Somehow I think that both ixr libs are being used. Somehow. Just comment out the require_once() on the wp side and take out the restriction on the bbpress side for that same library inclusion.

    That ‘parse error’ means that it can’t parse some xml that it’s getting. Lets deal with the mem problem. I think that the ‘parse error’ is just a spurious err msg.

    How many groups and users do you have? Nothing can be 40megs of mem.

    Just the template tags file. Has nothing to do with the import routine. I’ve successfully run the import routine for all and just group users on my windows box and the linux box on the dv.

    Looking at your error msg and the new ALL import routine. Sec.

    John I put the deep detection around the require_once() at the top of oci_bb_group_forums.php just take that line out and use your own technique. Mine obviously doesn’t work.

    Yes that fn should be oci_xprofile_field(). Wrong file got into the zip.

    I’m trolling for topics with no replies. You qualify. Things get lost here easily.

    You can customize the search bar by follwing the fn chain that starts at bp_search_form() in /mu-plugins/bp-core/bp-core-templatetags.php which gets called from header.php

    We haven’t met. I’m Burt and this is my partner John. Perhaps you’ve heard of us? Our professional tag team wrestling stage names are Ren and Stimpy. I never get to play with the pretty css stuff. :(

    The admin bar gets triggered on every ‘wp_footer’ action that your theme triggers. Which is on every page load. There is no function call from a php file that does it. bp is almost completely driven by wp ‘actions’. Everything gets loaded, defined and ready for the events that are defined to make things happen.

    Everybody is posting around each other here.

    The ‘wp_footer’ action is triggered by your theme’s usage of (normally) get_footer()

    which calls wp_footer()

    which does do_action(‘wp_footer’)

    which triggers bp_core_admin_bar() in bp-core-adminbar.php

    which gets you the admin bar.

    *deep breath*, let it out slowly now… :)

    /mu-plugins/bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php but the css gets enqueued in bp-core-cssjs.php in the same dir.

    There’s a bug in RC-1 that sends out the admin bar css after the site-wide.css so including your mods in there won’t do much good. Patch in : https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/555

    The wp_footer action ‘calls’ the admin bar.

    Must be a FF thing only on the Mac. Sounds like it’s having problems with all the css and js coming at it. Browser caching issue? I run with the cache turned off most of the time because I’m fooling around with css and just forget to turn it back on again. I never had a 4 minute lag though. FF 3.06 and Windows.

    Flock is based on the FF engine. Dunno.

    I think I have the deep stuff grok’ed. wp loads first and then bbpress. So just this in the bbpress plugin should work:

    if (!defined(BB_IS_WP_LOADED))

    require_once( BACKPRESS_PATH . ‘/class.ixr.php’ );

    Well, that’s what’s in there. I can’t test it. Relying on you to tell me if it works ok.

    Hi John. :)

    I have to test the xprofile stuff on the bbpress template tag level. I think I’m transferring data that could be serialized in $field_obj->data->value. Gotta check that.

    This thing needs chat. You ever on IRC? A bunch of us hang out in irc.freenode.net #buddypress. I’m always there.

    I like the inclusion of ‘signature’ in a profile field! Nice idea.

    I’ve updated bbGroups to optionally transfer all users over to bbpress meta or just users who are in groups. Skipping the bbpress/buddypress utility user.

    I’ve got all xprofile groups and group field values going to bbpress.

    Got a template tag that allows getting any of those values by user, group, field.

    Did some cleanup internationalization for text.

    Now doing testing. Gotta look into the problem with tags for hidden groups showing up in the tag cloud. I don’t think you’d be interested in any of this. You’ve already got that stuff implemented. :)

    I think that the only mod of yours I stepped on was the oci_get_user_filter() changes you included in there. I added another filter function oci_get_xprofile_filter($user) that adds all the xprofile fields to the $user array. It won’t break your mod, it’ll just add all the xprofile fields again.

    /**

    * oci_get_xprofile_filter()

    *

    * This filter adds all xprofile groups and group fields to bbpress

    *

    * @param <array> $user

    * @return <array> $user array for xmlrpc transport

    */

    function oci_get_xprofile_filter($user){

    $xprofile_groups = BP_XProfile_Group:: get_all(true); // all except empty groups

    foreach($xprofile_groups as $group){

    foreach($group->fields as $field){ // all fields for group

    $field_obj = new BP_XProfile_Field($field->id, $user,true); // this field

    // xprofile_groupname_fieldname to prevent conflicts

    $user = array(‘group’ => $group->name, ‘name’ => $field_obj->name, ‘value’ => $field_obj->data->value, ‘type’ => $field_obj->type);

    }

    }

    return $user;

    }

    add_filter(‘oci_get_user’,’oci_get_xprofile_filter’,10,1);

    sgrunt, what is the url that gets the 404 result?

    vito687, the fn bp_core_get_userurl() returns this:

    $bp->root_domain . '/' . MEMBERS_SLUG . '/' . $ud->user_login . '/';

    So it seems that root_domain isn’t correct for you. It should be correct. It comes from the mu backend, get_option(‘siteurl’). If your ‘path’ and ‘domain’ are correct, that’s what you should get.

    That’s what you have correct? mu installed in a subdir under the doc root: <apache root>/wpmu/?

    Check in Site Admin > Blogs > <your root blog> > Edit

    It should read ‘Domain’ http://yourdomain.com and ‘Path’ /yoursubdir and in the wp_1_options it should say ‘Siteurl’ http://yourdomain.com/yoursubdir

    Hi people. The combo download for RC-1 from buddypress.org is fine in both the zip and tar.gz versions. Everything is where it should be. Just checked.

    When does this happen? Clean install, activate the home theme visit the root blog and then you get this error? Or does this only occur when you are in the member theme area such as your profile and then try to visit the home theme? For example you click ‘blog’ or ‘members’ buttons.

    I think that something is trashing a WP constant called TEMPLATEPATH that is created in wp-settings.php >> define(‘TEMPLATEPATH’, get_template_directory());

    It’s either not getting set correctly or it’s getting fubar’ed later, somehow.

    Have you tried activating a different theme for the root blog? Do you get the same error? Try just activating *anything* else other than the bp home theme and then do what you did to reproduce the problem.

    Trying to narrow things down. Lemme know.

    p.s. I flipped the red light switch on this thread so that others may join in the fun too.

    OK. I’m back. The bbpress const for wordpress is: BB_IS_WP_LOADED and is defined in bb-settings.php John. Looks like it’s only being used during installation and bbpress boot.

    Thanks for reminding me about the template tags. I’ll include those too. I’ll add filters to all the template tags also. Good idea.

    Many thanks for your help and sharing!

    Thanks John. I’m doing some upgrades to the bbGroups thing today and I’ll integrate what I can into the plugin. I’m thinking a generic oci_include_xprofile_field() function that takes a field name and if it exists includes it in the transferred data.

    The deep integration stuff will be included. bbPress has a deep detector and constant defined that changes it’s behavior if it’s ON. Don’t do this, do that different if DEEP. I’m going to follow the same path as sambauers. The results will be the same as yours.

    if (DEEP) require_once(…);

    p.s It’s not called DEEP.

    NOTE: not done talking just saving.. :)

    Howdy. Sure there is but you’ll either have to change the bp core or create another widget that is a copy of the normal Members widget. The functional change is:

    Line 92 in /mu-plugins/bp-core/bp-core-widgets.php is the line:

    <?php $users = BP_Core_User::get_newest_users( $options ) ?>

    change that to:

    <?php $users = BP_Core_User::get_random_users( $options ) ?>

    Actually you’ll have to make more than that change to make your new RandomMembers widget work properly if you copy it and start editing it. It won’t be just a one line modification. You’ll be creating a whole new different widget that has to function properly. Up to you as to which path to choose.

    I think there must be some confusion as to the proper location of themes. See:

    https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/using-the-buddypress-themes/ for an overview.

    You shouldn’t have to rename directories if everything is in the right spots.

    That sounds like a good plan jahshaka. It’s the way I do it. All except for disabling the plugins. I just upload the latest mu and bp. Visit the back end of your root blog as site admin to upgrade the databases if needed.
