In reply to: Site Activity Icon Problems…
We could use a link to your site, the version of bp what theme you are using. Have you looked at your issue with firebug? http://getfirebug.com/
[Mon Jun 22 01:48:49 2009] [error] [client 69.242.205.122] PHP Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #1 is not an array in /var/www/vhosts/ourcommoninterest.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-signup.php on line 257
I have registrations disabled. Bunches of warnings like that right after some cracking attempt to run a php file that doesn’t exist on my system. Not all of the warnings are attempts to run files such as ‘approved_checks.php’ though some are after msgs like this:
Sat Jun 20 23:09:13 2009] [error] [client 66.249.71.195] Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use ‘LimitInternalRecursion’ to increase the limit if necessary. Use ‘LogLevel debug’ to get a backtrace.
It is always right after one or the other though.
No idea what the issue is yet but yes I’m getting that also. I just have a plain default install of bp and wpmu.
In reply to: Forums Not Being CreatedI’m not aware of anyone who has been successful using bbpress rc* for group forums. I gave it a shot and couldn’t seem to figure out the problem in the time I had available. bbpress 1.0 alpha 6 works.
In reply to: bpContents 1.0 Alpha 2 ReleasedThe alpa 3 release is going to happen here soon. It will initially only support tags and will not be backwardly compatible with prior releases. The UI will be very similar but the core has changed significantly. The hierarchical categories is scheduled for later.
A reminder that relying on alpha release code is really not a good idea on a production site.
In reply to: Custom slugs not workingCreate a file called bp-custom.php in /wp-content/plugins put your slug mods there. This gets loaded everytime bp loads.
In reply to: BuddyPress Kills WordPress ThemesThis hasn’t been reported by others. There have been a couple of ‘The bp themes are missing and it’s showing /themes in the bp backend instead of /bp-themes.’
Reinstall of wpmu/bp seems to solve the issue. Haven’t been able to track it down.
In reply to: Forum Notice to Site Wide Activity BugIs it in trac? Discussing it here is great. Everybody knows it’s an issue and perhaps someone will track down the bug and submit a ticket with a patch. It doesn’t get remembered if it’s not in trac.
In reply to: Missing BP Admin Bar on BlogThe theme is missing the call <?php wp_footer() ?> in it’s footer.php file.
What blog are you on and what is the url that breaks when you select one of the directories? What exactly is the error message? Did this work before? What theme is this?
In reply to: General Settings Change Password BrokenA blank page is an error happing. Check your error logs.
In reply to: General Settings Change Password Brokenbp, wpmu versions. themes being used?
In reply to: Add admin bar in all ThemesYou get to have one or the other basically. It doesn’t cause conflicts, they both can’t be occupying the same space.
Well, you could always encapsulate the navigation.php code into a function and just call that function from both places.
funciton my_nav_stuff(){
?>
.. all the stuff from navigation.php…
<?php
}
Stick that in bp-custom.php then in both themes <?php my_nav_stuff() ?>
The template path gets hijacked when a user goes into the member theme. It gets set to /bp-themes. When they go out of it it’s back to normal again /themes. That wouldn’t work for pointing to a file.
In reply to: Correct way to replace functions in bp-core.phpJeff and I seem to be writing posts at the same time. Maybe we need walkie talkies or something.
In reply to: Correct way to replace functions in bp-core.phpYou have to remove the action after it’s defined by bp. Which is after bp loads up. In bp-custom.php:
function replace_bp_core_action_search_site(){
remove_action( ‘init’, ‘bp_core_action_search_site’, 5 );
add_action( ‘init’, ‘YOUR_bp_core_action_search_site’, 5 );
}
add_action(‘plugins_loaded’, ‘replace_bp_core_action_search_site’);
In reply to: Add admin bar in all ThemesWhat theme are you having problems with?
In reply to: Add admin bar in all ThemesEvery theme is written differently. Generally speaking it should be located in footer.php.
From the default Kubrick theme’s footer.php we have:
<!-- Gorgeous design by Michael Heilemann - http://binarybonsai.com/kubrick/ -->
<?php /* "Just what do you think you're doing Dave?" */ ?>
<?php wp_footer(); ?>
</body>
</html>if ($bp->current_component == $bp->groups->slug && $bp->is_single_item){}Is how I detect if the user is in a group page in the member theme. Such as: /groups/cats
if ( $bp->current_component == $bp->groups->slug && empty( $bp->current_action ) ) {}Is how I detect is the user is in a group directory. The group directory doesn’t have anything after /groups. There’s no ‘action’ to detect.
If you take a look at bp-groups.php groups_setup_nav() you’ll see all the stuff bp sets when a user vists one of their groups.
In reply to: Add admin bar in all ThemesIf it’s not showing on all your blogs then check the setting of: wpmu back end > BuddyPress > General Settings > Hide admin bar for logged out users?
If some themes are still not showing the admin bar then that means they are not written to calll wp_footer() in the theme itself.
In reply to: Pulling BP Data into WPMU BlogSite admins and blog admins rely on the themes that are available to them. If the theme doesn’t support bp, they don’t get that option. Talk to your friendly neighborhood theme author.
In reply to: Custom Loops for Forum TopicsYou betcha. Get your template up and running then?
In reply to: Disable new blogs creation for new accounts?wpmu back end > Site Admin > Options
Allow new registrations
Only logged in users can create new blogs.
In reply to: Installing buddypress into a subdomain — help neededThe BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG option works fine on my install using subdomains.
In reply to: install bbpress – no dropdown to select adminHaha. I do have a certain ‘flavor’ don’t I? Ok, we can stop this now.
