Just come back to see if there’s any progress on this post..
By the way, @nobodyridesforfree are you sure that put a custom error message on ‘/bp-themes/bp-default/registration/register.php’ is not enough for you? At least temporary, until you find better solution later.. just a thought ..@fitnessblogger – Nice concept.. But I think it will be more exclusive if the site’s layout and icons customized so it won’t feel “so salutation”.. just a thought..
And one more, there is still “lorem ipsum” dummy text left on the register tab..
maybe you forgot to change that..?– If you prefer to hire people professionally, then you just need to find kind persons that good in moderating discussions, familiar with your niche, and also familiar with WordPress (familiar with BuddyPress is a plus).
– Many sites choose some of their most active members to be a moderator. Just find and promote them to be moderators.
– I believe shared hosting is enough to start.. Requirements will grow along with your members / activities progress and your site complexity.. Also read: https://buddypress.org/about/requirements/
(But anyway, it would be great if you learn how to use dot / period to separate sentences in a paragraph )
– If you can tell more specific on what and why you can not figure out, then perhaps me or nice fellows here can help you.. but on top of that, you have found CubePoints for BuddyPress so you’re on the right way.. just go on.. read the documentation.. It’s easier than it looked I guess..
– Also consider to try “Achievements For BuddyPress” plugin –> https://buddypress.org/community/groups/achievements/ by Paul Gibbs ( @djpaul )
Awesome.. Really love how Tamriel Foundry loaded fast (lightweight) though the site carries more than one thousand active members.. I’ll try to suggest some friends to check Tamriel Foundry and see if they can help contribute something..
Good.. I think linking to wordpress.org would be great too
No, please don’t take it wrong.. I’m not expecting BuddyPress to be exactly what I want..
I’m new here and I’m not expecting much.. Please don’t feel like being forced by me or something like that..
I’m just interested in BuddyPress and very excited to know more about the concept of this special plugin.. I notice that BuddyPress is ‘more than just another WordPress plugin’.Err…, so based on your answers, as you said, @modemlooper , can we conclude as below :
BuddyPress is ONLY aggregates WordPress content… but this plugin is not deeply integrated with WordPress content.
BuddyPress is sitting on WordPress CMS platform, without following how WordPress’ system in managing users and content.
BuddyPress plugin adds user relationships to WordPress, but that relationships has nothing to do with WordPress content and user management..”(In my opinion, I’m just thinking that it should be great if in the future BuddyPress is more integrated with WordPress. But that’s just my opinion.. It’s only a feedback from me to this community.. that’s okay.. Just don’t take it wrong).
+1
Yes, now I understand what you’re trying to say..
I hope somebody else here in this forum can help you to do this customization..Authors post recipes, and user read and discuss that recipes.. That’s basic function of WordPress, (not BuddyPress..).
Tasty Kitchen uses WordPress plugin WP-PostRatings so their users can rate a post by an author.. That’s a WordPress plugin, (not exclusive to BuddyPress..).
What I’d like to say is:
such a basic social feature between authors and readers (which needed by sites like Tasty Kitchen) should be covered by BuddyPress default.Yes, in WordPress Repository both the last update date and the warning labels are shown..
Maybe WordPress just want to emphasized the invalidity of old plugins ?love the concept.. In my opinion, navigation on the right side should be moved to left side..
Let articles on the right side.. and advertisement space can be inserted between articles..Lately people is getting familiar with sites like Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, Blogspot interface layouts which put navigation on the left column..
Just my opinion.. But nice concept anyway..
Okay, thanks for replying @Modemlooper ,
So the goal of this community in creating BuddyPress is just to create a common social-network platform for everyone.. right?
So anyone are free to extend its functionality..
(they can create their MySpace, they can create their Facebook, and so on..)BuddyPress uses WordPress CMS as platform and follows WordPress’ open source philosophy,
but BuddyPress has nothing to do with how WordPress manages users and content.. (as admin, editor, contributor, reader…)If WordPress fans need to add social features to their WordPress authoring activities, they should extend BuddyPress functionality themselves to accomplish this..
Let’s say if WordPress bloggers need to add like button for post and follow/unfollow feature for favorite authors.. they should tweak BuddyPress functionality themselves or find a plugin for this..
Is it right?
Interesting..
I guess “Pin It” feature (like Pinterest, but more focused on pinning a post) will also interesting too..
– Excuse me but why don’t you consider what @vfx_fun has replied ?
Use PoEdit to customize your error messages.. (It’s tricky, but useful..)– Alternatively, you can change that error message directly.. Use “find and replace” software to help you find which line that need to be changed.. (Some freeware like ‘WinGrep’ for Windows perhaps..)
I believe there are some wordpress plugins with feature like this…
Some plugins like “PrintFriendly” perhaps ?
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/printfriendly/Just choose a plugin that most compatible with buddypress..
