Yep… not there. But the problem is fixed. I’d love to share what I did, but a web-developer friend took care of it for me (and he speaks that techno-stuff I don’t understand 🙂 )

I want to add… as I’ve been messing with the settings a bit, I had to add an entirely new page to get it go to a registration page. But then when it sent the “activate” email, I wound up on another 404 page, no matter what page I put in the “activate” field on the settings. HELP!

OK @bphelp – I’ve discovered some of my own answers. I see that the @name is the user name they chose and cannot be changed. And… I just noticed the grey area of options below the standard WP options, which of course are the options for buddypress. So… poking around long enough I’ve answered my own questions.

Thanks @bphelp – that gets me to the profile… but I have two issues still.

    1. The @name thing (in my case @thelords) is not available to modify.
    2. When some of my users go to that edit option, it does not take them to the profile… it takes them to the “welcome” page.

I appreciate that… but it’s not exactly what I’m asking. I think I’ve discovered that if I add a new user in the WP dashboard and then I can just give them the username and password I’ve created and send them to http://www.mysite.com/wp-admin – they can login without going through PayPal.

Thanks @anton-naydenoff – I’ve added a few “fictional” members to my site – but they don’t have access to the things behind my paywall. Looks like I’m going to have to figure out how to make them “paid” members. I wonder if S2member has a way to do that when they really haven’t paid?

Thanks @anton-naydenoff – but I’m still unclear on how the key is generated.

Maybe an example would help. I want to create 3 fake users for my site to try it out and see how the interaction works. How do I generate 3 unique keys for those “users” so that I can put those fake profiles in the system? And keep in mind, I have it inside S2member – so I’d love to be able to do it without having to pay through paypal for each of those new profiles. Seems there has to be a way on the backend to do that.

Hey @henrywright-1 thanks for that response. So, where does that “key” come from? How is it generated. I think I’m going to need to make up a few accounts to play around and see how it works with multiple users on the system.
