OK, thanks.
the problem for us IS with the theme. we were using the simple wp communty theme which may mean its a compatabilty issue between buddypress and a wp theme. the odd thing is that it worked for the past two months. its not a plug in issue. we could reinstall buddypress and wordpress but we’re afraid we’ll lose all site content.
thanks. auto embeds didn’t work but we were able to succeed with the plugin all in one video back and it is working fine
we are having a similar problem. it started happening a few days ago. we’ve installed all updates and tried changing the registration settings on the option page but nothing seems to be working.
thoughts?I have no ideas but I am getting the same type of problem with WP 3.0.1 BP1.2.5.2. When a new user is registered by the admin, via the “add user” option on the users page, an auto email is sent. When the new user clicks on the link they get redirected to wp-login.php. What make this a major problem is that they have not yet been assigned a password so there is no way for them to confirm their existing registration and no way for them to register themselves with the same email address until the first email registration expires (2 days i think).
This wasn’t happening to me at first with the same set up. The new user would enter the site. But I’m unsure if they couldn’t leave without being assigned an avatar and selecting a password?
What’s up with this redirect? Any solutions?
Transposh seems to be a really nice option for what we wanted!!
Now if I can only find a solution for why it won’t interact with the activity stream.
I’m having a similar problem. When I register a new user it doesn’t always recognize the avatar. Further, when you upload your own image you can crop it but then it won’t upload. It just says “Upload Failed! Error was: No file was uploaded.”
Ok, just found a number of discussions on related isues: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/avatar-problems-upload-failed-cannot-move-to-upload-folder/
and https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/avatar-upload-issues/BTW, I found all this helpful info:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Multilingual_WordPress
Manage multilingual posts in one post per language (for example Gengo and WPML). Translations are then linked together, indicating that one page is the translation of another.
Store all languages alternatives for each post in the same post (for example qTranslate).
Manage translations on the generated page instead of using a post context (for example Transposh and Global Translator)
Plugins that direct you to external translation services (for example Google AJAX Translation)
Plugins that link together separate WordPress installations for each language by pinging back and forth.I’ll try a few more options but sure would appreciate some suggestions.
ThanksThanks. That’s where I found the post to site plugin. I couldn’t get it to work with BP.
I ended up using Jet Quickpress. Not exactly what I wanted but it works for a simple way for people to post from the front end. Though the hover drop down menus are difficult to navigate and need to be reworked.
BTW, I’m using wordpress 3.0.1. I’m totally stuck. I’ve found some discussions online regarding this error message but they’re way to technical for me to even begin to understand. If there’s a solution can somebody please walk me through it?
Thanks! That worked. Having the front page displays appear on my home page is good enough!
OK. Thanks to both of you. I was actually already using a WP theme and even after BP and all plugins were deactivated, I still was not able to enter a blog (even on the backend).
So I contacted my site provider and they fixed by re-applying my account’s wildcard settings. I however needed to clear my browser’s cache and cookies before I could reach my subdomains (blogs) properly. Now back to the prob I was originally trying to address, getting all the posts on the subdomain blogs to appear on my main site page. It is unclear to me if Sitewide tags can actually do this
( see discussion https://wordpress.org/support/topic/one-blog-streaming-multiple-smaller-ones). All posts do appear on the Activity page. The problem would be resolved if I could just get my Activity page to appear as my main pageThoughts?
Thanks, but not sure if I understand. If I deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress, I not only can’t access the blogs but I can’t access my main page either. I get the following: Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_page_title() in /home/cetateni/public_html/wp-content/themes/simple-wp-community-theme/header.php on line 9
Thanks for your help but please clarify.
Thanks, I’ll check out buddydev. Unfortunately deactivating bp-group-management didnt allow me to access any of the blogs.
Any other suggestions out there? Do I need to contact TMD hosting or is it a WP/BP problem?
